Potter Blasts Banchory into Thistle 7s Semis

A display of hard hitting from Banchory’s Phil Potter saw his side claim the first semi-final spot in this year’s Thistle sports Sevens, following Monday night’s opening round of games at the Duthie Park.  Cults A and Gordonians meantime will pay off next Monday to see who goes into the final four of the Duncan Cup, for Group Runners-Up.

In Group B Huntly, making a return to the tournament after a number of year’s absence, comfortably beat last year’s Duncan Cup winners Queens Cross, but lost to Mannofield; and therefore must wait until next Monday to find out their future in the Competition.  If Queens Cross beat Mannofield, then with each team having won one game, the Group placings will be decided by runs per wicket for and against.  Otherwise Mannofield will go forward into the P and J Trophy, and Huntly into the Duncan Cup.
