The Arctic weather conditions continued as week 3 of the season bought the Grade 1 Inverurie visitors to the AGSFP’s city ground. The visitors total (120-9 off 46 overs) helped by the batting of G. Hadden who narrowly missed out on his half century (48) must have seemed very gettable but tight bowling from G. Coutts (4-11) and J. Jessiman (3-19) restricted the home side to 106 managing to winkle out the last wicket with 2 overs to spare. Over the wall, neighbours Queens Cross continued to look for their first win and were beaten by 12 runs as the Mannofield visitors with a good all round performance from C. Burnett (57 and 4-19) managed to remove the last wicket allowing Mannofield to leap into pole position. The big encounter of the day at the Links fizzled out into a draw with Cults setting a target 244 with batting performances from S. Devadas (83) and B. Vicky (38). Last years champions could only hold out for a draw despite the batting for Bon Accord from B. Veldsman (52) and F. Awan (52). Out at Gordon Park another draw of the day story, as the home team set a target of 247 with an excellent century by J. Barrett (118) which the visitors comfortably held out for a draw with the help of batting from J. Frost (62no) and S. Hasan (47). The Castle Road side entertained Stonehaven who comfortably reached the Kintore target (127) with ex-Kintore team mates doing most of the bowling damage D. Anderson (3-6) and R. Balsillie (2-19).
In Grade 2 Crathie are still looking for their first win as their total (112) restricted by the bowling from V. Bode (4-23) and D. Singh (3-27) was easily reached in 25 overs by the St. Ronald side helped by the batting from S. Rehan (39) and D. Miller (37no). Gordonians jumped into pole position as they continue with their winning streak by setting a total (259-2 off 42 overs) with batting performances from new boy C. Mouli (76) and P. Ballal (71no) which the Duthie Park visitors Caledonian found too big an ask, despite batting effort from A. Kash (43) who also took the only 2 Gordonians wickets. Over at Duthie Park, Methlick set a target (166) helped by the batting from M. Woodhouse (42) that proved not enough, as Anchorians bounced back from their defeat last week with notable batting from S. Kumar (59) and G. O’Brien (43) and with the bowling from skipper C. Forbes (5-30). Crescent visited Alan Park where the amalgamated Cults-Artisans side set a total (261-7 off 40 overs) with notable batting from E. Spearman (85), M. Sekar (62) and R. Munro (54no), which the visitors never looked to trouble as they were bowled out for 116. Out at Burnett Park the 2nd Banchory total (134-7 off 46 overs), with batting performance from T. Wilkinson (46no) was not enough as the Fraserburgh visitors comfortably reached their target without loss with batting performances from N. Watson (53no) and C. Bowie (53no) supported with the bowling from A. Rennie (4-29).
