The council have published a questionnaire to seek views on the future of Duthie Park, and it includes a question about whether Cricket should be relocated to elsewhere in the city.

Let's all complete one and send it in to let them know how we feel. You can download it from here. There is more information about their plan here and here.

I think it should be compulsory for every member of every club to complete this form and return them en-masse to the Grades Commitee to be forwarded to the council. That should be somewhere in the region of 5-700ish, but then again!

P.S. The first meeting of the Apathy Society is being held on the 29th of.....oh why bother!!!

I will happily complete the form, but then I am unsure whether Duthie Park or a dedicated new site would be better for Cricket?

What is the overall viewpoint amongst the Grades? Does the ACA Committee have a recommendation? And if there WAS a new site, would the Council honour THAT commitment?

At Stonehaven we may have to make that same decision in a year or two!

It's not hard to imagine facilities that would be far better for cricket than Duthie Park - good squares and a dedicated grounds team, nets, pavilion, score boxes, sight screens, etc. If there was a credible plan to provide that then I can't imagine anyone objecting.

What is hard to imagine, however, is Aberdeen City Council actually providing that, bearing in mind that the location they have earmarked for cricket is Sheddocksley and - erm - well, just Sheddocksley.

Having seen little evidence in the past of the council acting in the best interests of cricket, it's easy to see why many cricketers would doubt their commitment to cricket's future.

[Thanks for filling in the form, btw]

Just handed in the Crescent player's forms to the Central Library. 24 of our players all say cricket should remain in the Duthie Park. How are the other clubs doing?

I have to say, i'm more concerned about the fact that the links is gonna be flattened to make way for the new Pittodrie in a couple of years time than by the DP problem...
