Hello, and welcome to acaGrades.org forum. We're delighted that you've come along and we hope you join in and contribute, and we hope you enjoy yourself when you are reading and taking part in the discussions here. Before you start posting, however, there are a few things about the way we administer this site that we'd like to bring to your attention.

We want the acaGrades.org forum to be somewhere that you will find lively, entertaining and intelligent discussions. The last thing the net needs is yet another site where any attempt at conversation is drowned out by a few people hurling mindless abuse at each other. We also want the forum to be a credit to the ACA and to cricket and cricketers as a whole.

To make this happen we will, where we feel it is necessary and as infrequently as possible, remove some postings from the forum. We hope this doesn't seem heavy-handed, and to be honest we would rather not do it, but we believe it is the best way to keep the tone of the forum right for the vast majority of the people who visit. We have to act in the best interests of this forum, the website as a whole and the ACA.

Why would we remove a message? There are six guidelines we would like you to be aware of:

1. Obscenity and mindless abuse are discouraged. Personal attacks on other users have no place in an intelligent discussion. We want acaGrades.org to be a friendly environment and so we will not accept gratuitous obscenities. We employ an automatic filter to cut out some bad language, but it is still possible to get around the filter. Doing so may be treated as knowingly breaking rules, and action may be taken against the user(s) responsible. Although we do not claim the forums to be child-safe we do not want to get a reputation for foul language, etc. There is a fine line with what one person considers offensive and another considers everyday language so discretion is advised.

2. Racism, sexism or homophobia will not be tolerated. This includes links to such content on other sites.

3. Any content that may put us in legal jeopardy, such as (but not limited to) potentially libellous or defamatory postings, will be removed. This includes links to such content on other sites.

4. A wide range of views is encouraged, but we will consider removing any content that other users might find extremely offensive or threatening.

5. Blatant advertising and commercial posts will be removed, especially if they are made by someone who makes little or no other contributions to the forum. You may advertise your own kit for sale if you wish, provided you do not post a message about any item more than once and you do not use the forum for negotiations about the item. Links to eBay items are permitted, but only one per auction.

6. As it says in the Preamble to the Laws, it is against the Spirit of the Game "to dispute an umpire's decision by word, action or gesture". Rule 22 of the ACA Constitution also applies here, just as it does anywhere else. This forum is not an appropriate place to discuss specific umpiring decisions.

7. If a topic has been removed or locked it is for a reason. Attempts to restart it, either directly or via "what happened to the thread about..." posts, will not be permitted. Any such posts or topics will also be removed. No discussion will be entered into, either on the forum or via Personal Messages.

If you act with maturity and consideration for other users, you should have no problems here, but if you contravene these guidelines then steps will be taken. Typically, these will be;

* First offence: Message removed and a public warning issued.
* Second offence: Message removed and two week ban imposed.
* Third offence: Message removed and permanent ban.

Three strikes and you're out. We also reserve the right to move directly to a permanent ban without the first two steps if we feel the situation warrants it.

In order to be able to enforce this, we need everyone to register before they can post messages, and we require you to tell us which club you play for.

We would also like to point out that, despite our best efforts to keep things under control, this is a public forum and occasionally messages may get past us that we would perhaps prefer had not done so. If you find anything on the site that you think should not be here, please let us know and we will deal with it.

Right - that's the heavy bit over with. All that remains is for you dive on in. Have fun and play nice!
