The Friday evening sessions at Allan Park have now been cancelled. This is due to the sad arrival of underage drinkers and vandals descending on the Park. Last Friday evening was the final straw when a group of drunken youths arrived and abused everyone in the Park. The practice session was cut short to try to protect the under 11 kids who were there and once we left the park, the vandals proceeded to rip the shutters off the score hut and kick in the door. This has happened on three occasions during the last couple of weeks with stones and sticks being thrown from the hill at the people practicing. The safety of the kids is paramount and for that reason, it has been decided to stop the training sessions completely before either a kid gets hurt or and adult gets jailed for trying to do something about it. These under 16 deliquents know that the law would not help any adult who tried to stop their activities and the police, who have been call a few times, have yet to beat their record breaking hour and a half response time. I know that they are busy out catching speeders etc but when kids are involved you would think they would make it a priority. We will fulfill our fixtures and I hope that we will be able to make a fresh start with the juniors next season. Apologies to all disappointed children and parents.

This kind of news sickens me. I help out with the Ellon Juniors, and we are currently experiencing a healthy increase in numbers attending practice. However, the best way we have found to avoid the lunatic element of our community is to practice on a Saturday morning. This causes obvious problems, such as clashing with other lesser sports, and our groundsmen, but on the whole it seems to be working.
Don't let the t***s beat you - give the kids a chance at a different time of the week - they deserve it. I assume of course that Cult's t***'s do not actually start hitting the bottle before 11.30am???

Problem is Huw, if it was Cults kids doing it, it could be sorted out internally so to speak, this lot happen to make their convenient way on bikes along the old railway line, not that I saying they are from Garthdee................................
