Bon Accord's pre-eminence at the short form of the game was again demonstrated as they won both their opening games in this year's Thistle Sports cricket sevens at the Duthie Park.
In the opening game of their cup defence it was an undefeated half-century from Fazal Awan that effectively batted Banchory out of the game, before in their second match skipper Malik took a hattrick to rip out the heart of the Queens Cross batting with the last three balls of his over, having the previous ball also run out one of the Harlaw side's openers.
In the evening's remaining games, Banchory bounced back to inflict a second defeat of the evening on Academy; while with Alex Keith going cheaply St Ronald lost to Stonehaven, before they in turn were beaten by Cults B.
