Although rain meant that only two games were completed in the Aberdeen Grades on Saturday, the one match played out in Grade 1 proved to be extremely significant, Stonehaven unexpectedly inflicting a second successive defeat on Cults, to push the Allan Park for the time being off the top of the Grade 1 into fourth place below Ellon, Bon Accord and Kintore, all of whose games were washed out.
With 2nd Cults also going down against Crescent at the Allan Park, it was once again a bad day at the office all round for the club who have dominated the Grades scene for much of the past decade; but from which they will surely bounce back in what could become one of the closest Grade 1 races for some seasons.
Monday and Thursday evenings see the final two rounds of this year's Thistle Sports Sevens, with Ellon playing Kintore and Queens Cross taking on Cults B in the semi-finals of the Duncan Cup; while Bon Accord play St Ronald, and Mannofield take on Cults A in the Press and Jourrnal Trophy.
