Grades Results 15 July 2006

Although Inverurie's defeat of Ellon has probably ended the Gordon Park side's outside chances of this year's Grade 1 title, the other top three sides had little difficulty in taking full points against lower-placed opponents in the latest round of games.

Kintore continue to remain in first place following their defeat of St. Ronald at King's College, despite the home side fielding no less than five trialists from Grade 2 clubs without a game, former St Ronald player Doug Anderson taking four wickets and scoring an undefeated half-century as last season's champions recorded a six-wicket victory.  Cults also served notice that they have not given up their own title hopes as Tatsat and Hamish MacDougall combined to take eight wickets against Grammar FPs, for whom Jerry top-scored with 34. Meanwhile at Harlaw an undefeated 33 from all-rounder Graeme Morrison enabled Bon Accord to nail down victory against Queens Cross; and Stonehaven & Banchory divided the points to leave them locked with Inverurie in the fight to avoid the drop.

At the top of Grade 2 Mannofield had a free day, as Anchorians were unable to raise a team for the second successive week, while Kemnay edged out Academy at the Duthie Park, former Kemnay captain Steve Barron scoring 127; while on the adjacent pitches Artisans kept open their own chances of promotion, taking the lion's share of points from a draw against 2nd Cults, Steve Dickie again featuring with the bat. Dunecht however lost to Gordonians to leave the Cowdray Estate side along with Anchorians perilously placed to avoid relegation to Grade 3.

In Grade 3 Methlick recorded a significant win over Portcullis in the race to secure promotion, while Caledonian's fine season continued with a comfortable win over 2nd Ellon.  2nd Queens Cross's victory over Crathie eases their relegation worries, but 2nd Banchory remain precariously placed despite their defeat of bottom-placed 2nd Grammar.

In Grade 4, Turriff secured home advantage in next week's Johnston Cup semi-final beating 2nd Methlick in the final round of Group games, and will play 2nd St Ronald following the current holder's ten wicket defeat of 2nd Stonehaven.  2nd Mannofield, who will be home to 2nd Methlick in the other semi-final, shared the points in a high-scoring league match at the Links.
