The titles in both Grade 1 and 2, and who is relegated from the top division are issues still to be resolved following the final full round of Grades matches at the weekend.
At the top of Grade 1 both Bon Accord and Cults won, leaving the Bons needing 10 points from their final game against Kintore to take the league from the current champions.
At the foot meanwhile Banchory secured their Grade 1 status with a comfortable victory over Queens Cross, and Stonehaven beat Inverurie, to leave the two defeated sides to shoot it out in their final game at Kellands next Saturday to avoid finishing in the second relegation spot, assuming that FPs take at least 5 points from their final game against Ellon.
At the top of Grade 2 long-time leaders Mannofield lost to 2nd Cults in a high-scoring game at the Links, in which centuries were scored on both sides, while Artisans beat Dunecht, and Academy's game at Sheddocksley was declared void due to an unfit pitch. At the foot Stoneywood-Dyce scratched again, just avoiding the need to apply for re-election, while Anchorians look to have survived despite defeat by Crescent.
Methlick were effectively gifted the Grade 3 title when 2nd Queens Cross were unable to field a team, with Caledonian gaining a second successive promotion following their defeat of 2nd Grammar who, with 2nd Banchory and 2nd Ellon, go down to an enlarged Grade 4.
Turriff completed a league and cup double in Grade 4, beating 2nd Methlick in a low-scoring Johnston Cup Final at the Haughs, reversing the league result of a fortnight ago.
The Turriff Cup quarter final between AGSFPs and Culter Curry Bon Accord is postponed to Saturday September 9th.
