Bon Accord's hopes of completing a full sweep of all the trophies open them failed at the penultimate hurdle, as their batting crumbled against Kintore in Sunday's Aberdeenshire Cup Final at Mannofield.
Following a bright start by Dougie Anderson and Colin Laird, which saw 39 runs scored off the first seven overs, Kintore required to re-group following the dismissal of their opening batsmen, but Frank Summers anchored the middle and lower order to see them through to a competitive score of 164 for eight from their allotted 40 overs.
Bon Accord's usually prolific top order batting for once however failed to fire with Fazal Awan and Andy Meares both dismissed in the first over, the latter run out, with only one run on the board. Although number three batsman Andy Win looked in little trouble scoring 73, before being the last out, only skipper Malik of the remaining batsmen was able to stay with him for any length of time, the Bons being dismissed for 120 with seven overs remaining.
Just the
Turriff Cup now remains to be completed, Bon Accord playing Grammar FPs, and the winners playing Mannofield on Saturday, at 1pm and 4pm, respectively; with the final versus Cults scheduled for the following day.
