Grades Results for w/e 10th-11th June 2017

Bon Accord bounced back to form, easily seeing off the challenge of bottom side Ellon Gordon at Gordon Park, while in the only other game played in Grade 1, AGSFPs kept its title hopes alive with a narrow, hard fought win at home to Inverurie Don Valley. Academy comfortably chased down the Crescent score leaving them just 1 percent behind the current leaders Bon Accord.

The early morning rain, leading to the three other top flight games being declared void, as were a number of matches in Grades 2, 3 and 4.

Once again the champions owed much to its three long serving players, including captain Tauqeer Malik who claimed six wickets for 17 runs when Ellon Gordon attempted unsuccessfully to chase the 252 required to win, collapsing to 151 all out 34 of which was scored by Alistair Addy.

The Bon Accord total owed much to Nawaz Mirza who rattled up a splendid 115, while getting good support from another of the visitors run machine Awan Fazal who scored 47.

Huw Owen was the pick of the home bowlers, taking a very credible five for 34, but unable to stop his side sliding to a sixth defeat of the season.

At Rubislaw AGSFPs game was delayed for an hour, as umpire Jim Stephen waited for the artificial wicket to dry out, restricting the match to 35 overs per side.

The home side batted first, but struggled against the accurate Inverurie attack, though they managed to reach 155 for the loss of nine wickets, mainly due to stubborn knocks of 34 and 32 from John Davey and Eddie Steinson.

The Kellands Park side made a brave fist of the chase, but came up 17 runs short. Gary Coutts hit a fine 42 in the company of Stuart Murison who scored an equally responsible 40.

Harold Mapplebeck restricted the visitors with a first class spell of bowling, taking four for 15.

''It was a near thing, but the win keeps us in the title chase,'' said Rob Swiergon, the AGSFPs captain.

History was made at Fraserburgh where Ryan (11) and Leanne (13 Broadley became the first ever brother and sister to turnout for the Grade 2 club, and possibly in the long history of the ACA Grades. The two youngsters were able to celebrate the occasion with a win, as Fraserburgh eased to an 11 run victory after setting Methlick 134 to win in a low scoring match. Methlick's Jamie Jones was an unlucky loser, having patiently scored 59 of his side's 122 all out.

In the same division leaders Stoneywood-Dyce lost its 100% record at Harlaw Road where Siyapa hunted down 185 to win with Salman Bedar hitting a magnificent unbeaten 76 for the home side.

In Grade 3 there were wins for 2nd AGSFPs and Portcullis at the expense of Crathie and Dunecht.
