Subj: Links pitch condition

Good afternoon David

I have been in contact with Nigel Spencer, Golf and Outdoor Services Manager who has given me the following response;

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the Links Cricket wicket on 22 July 2017.

I have been in touch with the maintenance team who have informed me that the wicket was prepared, as normal for a Saturday fixture, on the Thursday afternoon.  You may recall that the weather towards the end of the week was wet and if there was a game played on the wicket on the Friday evening, this would have had an adverse effect on the playing surface the next day.

I can confirm that there was no booking for any game on the Friday, therefore anybody playing was unauthorised.  These teams must take responsibility for the condition of the wicket in this instance and it is a pity that nobody was able to identify who they were so that Sport Aberdeen or indeed yourselves could challenge them.

I hope that this explains the situation relating to your enquiry.

Please contact me if you have any further queries.
