AGM NEWSThe Secretary and Treasurer have been re-elected for 2007, at an unchanged rate of honoraria.
The 2007 Dinner will be held on Friday November 2nd at either the Northern Hotel or Pittodrie Banqueting Suite. Clubs are asked to reflect on a suggestion that players under 18 on 20 April preceding the relevant season be allowed to play for more than one club during that year. A proposal will be made to the Spring Meeting that, following the success of this year's mega-raffle [which will not be repeated in 2007] the £20 levy on Grade Fees to fund the Development Officer post be removed; and that the Handbook charge also be reduced by 50p. A proposal will also be made that Umpires' Fees be increased to £15 (£25 if only one umpire). It is hoped in 2007 to have one junior festival per month across the region, and to hold a level 1 coaching course pre-season at Inverurie. Clubs are encouraged to nominate outstanding junior players even if they do not themselves have a junior section or team. Clubs are asked to update contact details asap, even if out of season. The Handbook can be downloaded from the web. Rule changes - If a club has two teams in the same grade, they must nominate six players who can play only for the first team. Notification of re-arranged fixtures has been defined to be one or more of verbal communication with an official of the club or clubs concerned, and e-mail receipt of which has been acknowledged by the addressee, or official notification on the Association Web Site. The maximum number of overs per bowler in knockout cup games is reduced from 12 to 10. The deadline for phoning in results is changed from 9.00pm to 8.15pm. If a match is likely to continue beyond then the team batting second must inform the Secretary by 8.15. There will be fielding restrictions in the 2007 Turriff Cup - a maximum of 4 players outside a 25 yard circle for the first 5 overs: a minimum of 5 within that circle for the remaining overs, excluding the bowler and wicketkeeper in each case. This is at the point of the ball being delivered. The Standard Ball for 2007 remains the Dukes Special Crown. Clubs are asked to reflect on the following other items, which will be further discussed at the Spring Meeting: 1) That meetings in future be held in an evening mid-week 2) That the existing Aberdeenshire Cup be retired, to be held at Mannofield, possibly being replaced by a new trophy 3) That a sub-committee be formed to consider arrangements for the Association's 125th anniversary in 2010, possibly to be marked by an update of the Centenary History and week-long Cricket Festival. The Spring Meeting has provisionally been scheduled for Sunday February 25th 2007 The 2007 season will commence officially on Saturday April 28th 2007 (Secretary's 60th birthday) - though Grade 3 and 4 may commence a week later. The Association remains without a Vice-President. The current President may be willing exceptionally to serve for a third year (2007/8), but not beyond that. DMJ wytbu8 Dec 24 2006 - 5:37pm
