Academy and Kemnay-Kintore Merge - 2018

Following a review by both parties of their player resources and a period of intensive discussion, the Management Committee has been advised that Academy and Kemnay-Kintore have decided that the best way of guaranteeing their respective ability to fulfil their fixtures in the forthcoming season is through a merger, arrangements for which have  been approved in principle by the members of both clubs, and the legislative consequences of which are currently being put in hand. Though the possibility of the combined club fielding two teams has been considered, and remains a hope for future development, the immediate effect of this is that Academy’s home games will now take place at Bogbeth Park in Kemnay; and that Grade 2 will be reduced to 9 teams, with only one club to be relegated. The Committee has also reduced to one the number of preliminary round games in the Bon Accord Cup, redrawing Siyapa to play Methlick and Fraserburgh to play Stonehaven in the quarter-final round. As a result of Academy fixtures being played in Kemnay, this has allowed us to move some fixtures, primarily from Sheddocksley Lower, to an alternative venue. Fixtures will be loaded up to CricketStats very soon, and clubs are urged to check for any amendments of venue from those noted in the previously issued draft fixture list.

With one team now free each Saturday in both of Grades 2 and 3 they may wish to play each other; and if a pitch is required for this clubs should contact the grades secretary at acagradess@gmail.com to arrange this. Alternatively if players are available to undertake umpiring duties they are invited to contact Ian Sutherland – thesutherlandfamily@btinternet.com to indicate availability, or the Management Committee has agreed that players should be regarded as eligible under Rule 13 to play as loanees – in Grade 1 or 3 if their team is in Grade 2, or in any Grade if their team is in Grade 3, on days during the regular season on which they have a scheduled free day.

Both clubs and the Management Committee regret the short notice of these changes, but have reluctantly concluded that they offer the only viable answer to the situation in which they currently find themselves.
