Grades Preview for w/e 5th-6th May 2018

Week two of Grades cricket gets under way on Saturday 5th May after an exciting opening day last week in which Grade 1 champions AGSFPs made it clear that they will be the team to beat. A nine wicket win at home to Mannofield, sending out a challenge to the others, but taken up by Bon Accord, the team the Rubislaw side deposed at the head of affairs in last season's top league.

Tauqeer Malik, the veteran Bon Accord captain said: ''Just in case AGSFPs think they are going to get it all their own way, can I just remind them that we made a great start of our own against new boys Stoneywood-Dyce, and will be up there again, challenging for the title.''

AGSFPs will be at home to Cults who were unable to play on the first day after Allan Park was deemed unfit to house their game with Knight Riders. Bon Accord will travel to Sheddocksley where they meet Grampian.

But just in case the top two think it will be a two horse race, Inverurie who take on Mannofield in Aberdeen will have other ideas, having top scored in the league with 224 against Crescent who proved not to be slouches, ending up only 14 runs behind at Kellands Park are at home to Academy.

At the Peoples Park Stoneywood-Dyce entertain title dark horses Knight Riders.

In Grade 2, the pick of the fixtures is at the Gordon Park where Ellon Gordon will kick off its first game in the division determined to return to the top flight after being relegated last season but will be likely to find Fraserburgh in fine fettle after their 155 win over Aberdeen Super Kings who they dismissed for 25, mainly due to Fraser Lawrance who took six wickets for a mere six runs. Newly promoted Stonehaven Thistle entertain Siyapa, 2nd Knight Riders meet Gordonians at Hazlehead, and Aberdeen Super kings host a game with Methlick.

In Grade 3, Portcullis are at home to 3rd AGSFPs, 2nd Methlick clash with Crathie who want to bounce back from a seven wicket defeat at Balmoral at the hands of Dunecht. Turriff are at home to 2nd Stonehaven, and finally 2nd Grampian take on Banchory at Sheddocksley in what might not be the top game of the day, but they can claim to be played at the highest point above sea level in Aberdeen.
