Grades Results for w/e 7th-8th July 2018

Bon Accord soared back to top of Grade 1, sending out a clear message to the other contenders in the title race that they will be the team to beat in this season's campaign. ''This was a very convincing win against a top class side who are after all, the current champions. We will be hard to displace now we are back at the top,'' said Tauqeer Malik, the Bon Accord captain. There was certainly evidence to suggest that Bon Accord are back at their best after their emphatic seven wicket at the expense of AGSFPs, the team they replaced at the head of affairs in one of the most fiercely fought title races in years. The AGSFPs total of 226 would on another day been a challenging one, but such was the ferocity of the Bon Accord reply that the target was reached in the 38th over. Not for the first time this season, Rob Swiergon, the AGSFPs captain, top scored with a responsible 67 against Bon Accord, only to come out second best once again, mainly due to a fine piece of bowling Varinder Sood who claimed five for 39. The visitor’s response was spearheaded by Akhlaq Bashir and Andy Win with respective knocks of 61 and 59 as they eased to what could be a season defining win. But while Bon Accord and AGSFPs were grabbing the headlines, Knight Riders were making their presence felt at Harlaw Road where they enjoyed a handsome nine wicket win at the expense of Mannofield. The Groats Road side set a respectable 262 to win, made light of the target, racing to victory on the back of an innings of 120 from Sivaganesan Palaniappan and an equally impressive unbeaten 91 from Madhan Mohan, taking the team to second place in the league. Inverurie and Crescent kept themselves in contention with 73 and 103 run wins against Academy and Stoneywood-Dyce, while in the relegation battle, Cults bowled Grampian out for 94 before rattling off the required runs for the loss of two wickets.
In Grade 2, Ellon Gordon amassed 340 for the loss of six wickets, and then bowled out 2nd AGSFPs for 100. In Fraserburgh, the home side racked up 269 for three, 120 of which was scored by Paul O'Neill. The Methlick response was 193 all out. Gordonians had the easiest of wins after bowling Stonehaven Thistle all out they raced to victory by 10 wickets. 2nd Knight Riders were narrowly beaten by Siyapa, falling 31 runs short of the visitors total of 220.
In the only game played in Grade 3, Portcullis notched up 156 for seven, 79 of which was scored by David Mitchell before going on to dismiss Crathie for 80, Mitchell again doing the damage, taking four 23, while Ross McKenzie returned three for three.
