Reid and Bon Accord Cup Finals - Up for the Cup at Mannofield 2018

Cricketers and supporters of Grades 2 and 3 will be making their collective ways to Mannofield on Sunday for the finals of the Reid and Bon Accord Cups on what is sure to be a great advert for the clubs in the so called lesser divisions of Grades cricket.
First up will be the T/20 final between Banchory and Portcullis who ironically will have met on Grade 3 business the previous day, giving supporters of the two sides, a fair idea of form in the Reid Cup, although league and cup performances can be radically different.
Players to watch in the Burnett Park side will be century maker Josh Crawley and middle order batsman, the reliable Carl Counsell, while Chad Abbott will be attempting to weave his bowling magic.
Portcullis are likely to be best served by Shovon Mostofa who will be looking to mesmerise the Banchory batsmen. Bob Adie who has hit form at just the right time will relish the flat, firm Mannofield track, as he will for this eagerly awaited final which gets under way 12 noon.
At 3:15pm, the Grade 2 boys take to the arena for the final of the Bon Accord Cup and will be represented by Gordonians and Fraserburgh who will put aside their respective bids to gain promotion to the top flight of the Grades game. This clash is also an abbreviated version. Gordonians have class in abundance, having enjoyed a good season in the Strathie, while in addition to pushing for a place in Grade 1, they have a junior section to die for including their Under 13 side who recently won the Scottish Cup in Edinburgh, making for a great future in prospect for the ambitious Countesswells outfit. They are likely to be best served by all rounders Indy Pandit and Chamila Perera, although there are others who are more than capable of shining on the big occasion. Their worthy opponents, Fraserburgh will bring not only a quality offering to the afternoon, but their well known sense of fair play, inspired by their ultra friendly captain Liam Bowie who could also be among the runs. Prolific scorers for the Broch Fraser Lawrance and Benjamin O'Neill are also tipped to be among the top scorers, but my day would be made if Leanne Broadley were to force her way into the side, giving the women's game a huge boost in the area. But most of all I hope it is a day to remember for players and spectators alike.
