Another Weekend to Savour by Jack Nixon

After all the thrills and spills of last weekend, another day of intensive action is on the cards in Grade 1, starting at Rubislaw where unbeaten leaders Aberdeen Grammar take on Inverurie, last week two win heroes in league and Aberdeenshire Cup.
It may be far too early to talk about season defining games, although a win for either side would certainly give them a huge advantage to build on. I'm not in the business of predicting who will win, and would rather listen to the two captains going into Saturday's big clash.
Rob Sweirgon, the Grammar skipper said: ''We are looking forward to this one, especially after Inverurie's feats last weekend, but my lads have a positive mindset, and looking to open up a gap over the rest of the field early on in the season.'' His opposite number at the Kellands Park, Chris Watson was in equally bullish support of his troops and said:''After last week's wins against Bon Accord, and Knight Riders, arguably two of the best teams in league, we have nothing to fear from anyone.''
But while the game of the day is attracting the most attention, it would be foolish to write off a number of other teams who could be in at the kill come the end of the season, including defending champions Bon Accord who will be keen to get back to winning way at the Links where they meet newcomers Gordonians.
The prospects of Knight Riders should certainly not be played down, particularly as the Groats Road side are the only other side with a 100% record, along with Grammar in the division, and will be keen to come to grips with Mannofield at Harlaw.
Crescent are also an aspiring side who could prove to be the dark horses in the title race, as witness their close run thing against high flying Grammar last weekend, and will be all out to make their point at Gordon Park where they meet newly promoted Ellon Gordon who having played twice last weekend will have had some good batting and bowling practice.
And finally, a real scrap is anticipated at Allan Park where Cults and Stoneywood - Dyce will be battling for vital points.
There are some big games in Grades 1 and 2 this weekend, no where more so than at Lairds where the clash of the top two in Grade 2 will surely excite the cricket mad residents in the village of Methlick, especially in the knowledge that leaders 2nd Aberdeen Grammar are the visitors.
One thing is sure, something will have to give, as both sides have a 100% records, and keen to keep them intact.
The benefactors of any slip up could be third place Siyapa who also have an unbeaten record and will fancy their chances at the Burnett Park against Banchory who have yet to win a game in which veteran homester Tim Wilkinson might just get the 10, 000 runs his devoted service to the club merits.
At Fraserburgh, both the home side and visitors Aberdeen Super Kings will be bidding to win for the first time this season, as is the case at Groats Road where 2nd Knight Riders and Grampian clash.
In Grade 3, the most attractive game of the day looks to be at the Duthie Park where Portcullis will be defending their 100% record against a Dunecht side who lie in third place, and have aspirations of their own.
League leaders, Crathie are at home to 2nd Methlick who are seeking to record a first win of the season against the unbeaten Balmoral side.
And finally, last but not least in an interesting weekend of cricket in week four of the season, the two bottom sides in the division, 2nd Grampian and 2nd Gordonians will want to break their duck in what is sure to be a competitive game.
I just hope the weather holds up for an eagerly awaited weekend of action.
