REVIEW OF 22nd / 23rd JUNE

It was all change at the top of Grade 1 as Inverurie and AGSFPs had polar opposite batting performances. Inverurie posted 284 without losing a wicket as Steve Morrison scored 170, and George Hadden a slightly more sedate 94 against Mannofield. Watson and Coutts took a couple of wickets each to bowl Mannofield out for 135 and take the Kellands Park side to the top of the table. This was at the expense of AGSFPs who must have been quite happy to reduce Bon Accord to 77 for 7 at Links, only for the floodgates to open as Usman Khan bailed Bons out with his 54 taking the total to 147. Poosappadi and Mapplebeck took 3 wickets apiece for AGSFPs, but Ashfaq Bashir, Awan and Mirza also took 3 wickets apiece for Bons, but at very little cost as Grammar were shot out for 38.

68 from Nathan Thangaraj helped Crescent reach 192 for 7 against ASI Gordonians, who responded with a disappointing 80 all out. Vineet Khanna was amongst the wickets again as his 3 for 10 kept Crescent at the head of the chasing pack in the league table. Vijay Vijayapur took 4 for 7 to rattle out Stoneywood-Dyce for 66, but Jon Grant produced even better figures as his 6 for 14 saw the first 5 Knight Riders batsmen amass 2 runs between them. Abhinav Kache restored some sanity to proceedings with 24 as Knight Riders stumbled to a one wicket win.
Cults registered their first league win of the season at home to Ellon, their 170 for 8 an excellent score at Allan Park these days. Ellon needed a big knock from at least one of the triumvirate of Davies, Veldsman and Barrett to get anywhere near the Cults total, but it was left to Billy Turner to top the scoring with 30 as Ellon were all out for 130.

Agha Haider made 64 for 2nd AGSFPs, before becoming yet another victim for Muhammad Shahid whose 4 for 23 saw the Rubislaw side all out for 143. Shahid now has 23 wickets for the season, 8 clear of the next wicket taker in the league. Shahram Memon fell just short of a half century as he set Siyapa on the way to another win, but 4 wickets from Haider made it a slim 2 wicket win. A captain's knock of 70 from Mark Herbert, added to 55 from Sam Rotheram, took Banchory to a respectable 181 all out against 2nd Knight Riders. Having reduced their opponents to 69 for 5, Banchory will still be pondering how they let victory slip away, although an unbeaten 33 from Thirumoorthi Dhanalakshmi was partly responsible as the last wicket pair snatched the points.
At Sheddocksley it was the George and Varghese show again as Grampian were all out for 140, the aforementioned scoring 71 and 36 respectively as Ross Devlin took 3 for 4 to clean up a fairly short tail. Stonehaven made a good start in reply, but the wheels came off a bit in the middle order, and John Varghese took 4 for 15 to bowl them out for 89. The Methlick v Fraserburgh match was moved to Sunday and Colin Addison delivered a Sunday best of 5 for 7 to shoot out Fraserburgh for 56. No amount of praying was going to make that a winning score on a good Lairds pitch, and a quick fire 25 from Addison made short work of the task at hand.

In Grade 3 Alex Hounsome made 55 of the 90 runs scored by 2nd ASI Gordonians, but the plaudits go to Bryan Carr for his 7 for 28 which put 2nd Methlick on a winning path, although they did lose 6 wickets in the run chase.
In the Reid Cup, Presheet Deshpande took 3 for 3 as Portcullis demolished Dunecht who batted through their 20 overs to post 31 for 8. 3 for 16 from Bill Slee helped Crathie restrict 2nd Grampian to 82 for 8. 24 from Peter Cunningham took Crathie to a winning 84 for 4 and both clubs qualify for the semi finals.

ASI Gordonians slipped off the top of the SPCU NE Championship with a defeat away to Falkland. As suggested in the preview for the weekend, the match hinged around whether Gordonians could get Harsha Cooray out cheaply, and they didn't! The damage was done before he was dropped on 102, and he accelerated on to 146 out of a Falkland total of 275 for 5. The Gordonians reply started briskly but Cooray bowling 5 overs for 7 runs knocked the stuffing out of the run chase as he removed Arora for 36. Gordonians were all out for 190.
3 run outs didn't help the Mannofield cause at Strathmore as their 132 all out was chased down by the home side in the 24th over for the loss of only 1 wicket. Meigle defeated Perth Doocot to stay unbeaten at the top of the table.
In the Eastern Premier League the spectators only got 31 overs of cricket at Mannofield as Aberdeenshire were scuttled for 45 by Carlton. Stoneywood-Dyce pushed Heriots close at Goldenacre with on form Liam Ferguson contributing 52 to the SDCC total of 151. Hayes van der Berg top scored with 31 for Heriots as 7 wickets fell on their way to victory.

Sunday proved a better day for the 2 local sides in the Scottish Cup as they powered in to the Quarter Finals. Aberdeenshire outplayed Clydesdale and Stoneywood-Dyce gave Irvine a 182 run drubbing thanks to 102 from Liam Lindsay and 91 from Liam Ferguson.
In the Gray-Nicolls Challenge Cup, Bon Accord only needed 15 overs to bowl out visitors Kilmarnock for 40. 5 for 15 for Ahklaq Bashir and 4 for 11 for Mirza were the bowling highlights, and Bons didn't lose a wicket in reply. AGSFPs also won comfortably as 5 wickets for Mapplebeck saw Huntly dismissed for 114. Fraser Proud was unbeaten on 63 to complete a 9 wicket victory for Grammar.

The ECB Vitality Under 15 Cup will see both local junior sides at Finals Day in Stirling next Sunday. Aberdeenshire beat Perth Doocot in the quarter finals and an under strength ASI Gordonians pulled off a surprise win at Clydesdale with Adi Hegde and Pranav Saravanan unbeaten on 41 and 49 respectively as they chased down the 130 runs required with only 1 wicket falling.
