So we reach the half way point of the season where the weather has been largely disappointing so far but we finally appear to have hit a heatwave and are looking forward to a full weekend of cricket.

In Grade 1 Inverurie are moving through the season well and currently sitting top of the league just ahead of AGSFPs, travel to Allan Park to face a Cults team coming off the back of their first win of the season, and they will be hoping that local knowledge can guide them to another victory, but for sure Inverurie will put up a fight on a wicket that has been deemed the worst in the grades by many this season.

AGSFP’s will be looking to get another win under their belts as they take on thriving Stoneywood-Dyce at Rubislaw. Some of the league’s best performers will be on show and this could be the pick of the games in the top league this weekend.

Crescent face the challenge of Knight Riders at the Links, a result for either team will certainly strengthen their title chance as they sit 3rd and 4th in the league. Again this encounter should be a good one and with the weather set, a sunny Links could be a great place to be this Saturday.

An up and coming and wonderfully youthful Mannofield side take on the Old Guard in Bon Accord at Harlaw. This encounter is a must win for Bon Accord for them to get their season back on track. Mannofield, heavily reliant on captain Indy Yathathugoda, will put everything in Bon Accords way as they look for their first win of the season.

Ellon face off against their promotion rivals from last season Gordonians at the Gordon Park. Gordonians will not be at full strength and this could be a difficult game for them as both teams look to secure their place in Grade 1 for next season.

In Grade 2 top of the table Siyapa were due to travel to Stonehaven but unfortunately the Mineralwell Park side have had to scratch which allows Siyapa to pickup 30 points without having to get their whites dirty.

Fraserburgh host Grampian this weekend in another seaside fixture. Fraserburgh are still trying to find their feet this season, and will be looking for the win, but an ever ready Grampian team will be in their way.

2nd Knight Riders will host Aberdeen Super Kings at Groats Road, both teams sitting on 2 wins this season and both will be hunting a third.

Banchory host 2nd AGSFP’s as they too look to get their first win of the season. This should be a cracking day out at Burnett Park.
In Grade 3 Dunecht host Portcullis, the travellers looking to keep the form going in the league and stay top of the table. Lairds will see Methlick 2nds host a Queens select in Crathie this weekend, whose form of late has been improving and they currently sit 2nd in Grade 2 and looking to keep pressure on Portcullis. In the final fixture 2nd Grampian welcome the ever improving 2nd Gordonians who are searching for that first win of the season, but the latter will be missing some of their youngsters who will be focused on the Under 15 finals day at Stirling on Sunday. We wish them luck along with their counterparts from Aberdeenshire.

In the Eastern Premier League, Stoneywood-Dyce welcome Carlton to Peoples Park. They beat Carlton down in Edinburgh at the start of the season, but Carlton took a much stronger bowling attack up the road to defeat Aberdeenshire last Saturday and this may be a tricky tie for the SDCC batting line up.

Aberdeenshire visit fellow strugglers Stewarts Melville, and both will be looking for a morale boosting win, but the hosts batted well at Forfarshire last weekend and this could be a finely balanced match.

In the SPCU NE Championship, ASI Gordonians take on winless Forfarshire 2nds at Countesswells. The latter were all out for 40 on a tricky pitch at Dalnacraig last Saturday and their teamsheet suggests they will have a decent bowling attack but will be without skipper Richard Rennie and talented keeper Fraser Ross. Gordos won't be far off full strength.

The greenhouses adjacent to Mannofield could be under threat as the Majeed brothers from Dundee High have been hitting the ball a long way on a regular basis this season. Both have also been bowling well and the experienced players in the Mannofield will need to be at their best to keep this game competitive.
