PREVIEW of 6TH/7TH JULY

This weekend Mannofield hop over the wall from Harlaw to Rubislaw to take on league leaders AGSFPs.  With Rob Swiergon unavailable Grammar will be led by the leagues top run scorer Karan Anand.  Crescent entertain Cults at the Links in a game where where they will have to do without their inspirational captain Nathan Thangaraj due to holiday commitments, and his team will have to contend with Mauzzam Ali who put Inverurie to the sword last weekend.  Ellon make the short trip to Inverurie where they welcome back Stephen Reid for his first game in a few years, but they are missing Jon Barrett and Ross Wade.  Inverurie are without in form batsman Steve Morrison although are expected to welcome back Scott White.  Knightriders and Bon Accord come head to head at Groats Road in a game which could well and truly go either way. Prasanth Malireddy and Bijin Vijayaraj will be hoping to make inroads into the experienced Bons top order.  Stoneywood-Dyce will start as favourites at home to Gordonians who went through the whole of June without a league win.

In Grade 2 relegation threatened Banchory host Super Kings who have given up home advantage for this encounter.  Sean Hicks and Mark Herbert could do some damage with the bat while Chetan Aggrawal has been in fine form for Super Kings this season.  Grampian welcome 2nd AGSFPs to Sheddocksley and in Johnson Varghese, Grampian have a real match winner, although Aman Sood is more than capable for 2nd AGSFPs.  The most tightly contested game in the league could well be at Lairds where Methlick play Stonehaven. Methlick are missing a combined 150 years of experience as Stuart Anderson and Colin Addison are missing this one. League leaders Siyapa and 2nd Knightriders meet at Duthie Park and when Muhammad Shahid has the ball in his hand the opposition batsman are quaking in their boots as he's already 8 wickets clear of his nearest rival at the top of the wicket taking charts.

Its the semi final stage of the Reid Cup and Dunecht travel to Balmoral to play Crathie.  Dunecht captain Steve Derrett will be trying his best to lead his side to finals day, however in Mike Baldry Crathie have an all rounder capable of influencing the game with bat and ball. Due to a lack of available pitches in Aberdeen on Saturday, Portcullis and 2nd Grampian meet at Sheddocksley on Sunday.  Portcullis will be hoping to call on the services of David Mitchell and 2nd Grampian will have to be aware of the eligibility criteria for this game.

In the SPCU it is local derby day as Mannofield host ASI Gordonians. Gordos openers Abrar Ahmed and Aman Arora will be looking to keep scorer Isobel Reid busy as they try to translate good starts to their innings in to something more substantial. In other SPCU matches, Meigle should be too strong for bottom side Kinloch, and Falkland and Dundee High would expect to secure wins over Perth Doocot and Strathmore respectively.

In the Eastern Premier League, Aberdeenshire desperately need to get some wins under their belt to give themselves a chance of avoiding relegation, but a trip to Grange is far from ideal on their quest for points. Stoneywood-Dyce are also in Edinburgh, and face Watsonians. Stoneywood have lost their last 3 league matches and Watsonians have won their last 2, but if Liam Lindsay can get amongst the runs then SDCC may well be dancing in the moonlight on their way back.

Sunday sees 2 Grade sides in Gray Nicolls Challenge Cup action. Bon Accord could surprise Perth Doocot at Groats Road. Perth won't be used to playing on an artificial pitch and Groats Road won't be used to seeing a pro in action. Usman Saeed has been in great form with bat and ball, but the swing bowling of Ivor Patterson will have to be negotiated if Bons are to win. AGSFPs travel to Forfar to play Strathmore, a game they are well capable of winning, but they will find the pace bowling of Matt Bolttler and Dale Sweeney a bit brisker than they face on Saturdays locally.

If you don't fancy Groats Road or Sheddocksley on Sunday, then Peoples Park should provide some exciting cricket as Stoneywood-Dyce host Ferguslie in the Citylets Scottish Cup quarter final. Aberdeenshire also have a quarter final tie, but they are in Edinburgh again, and this time they face Carlton.
