REVIEW OF 6th / 7th JULY

AGSFPs blew away Mannofield at Rubislaw on Saturday, Karan Anand picked up 4 wickets for only 5 runs then Alec Keith scored 22 of the required 42 runs to help them to an 8 wicket victory.  Crescent and Cults provided the closest game in Grade 1 with Crescent winning by 3 runs in a day which was definitely one for the bowlers with Rahul Meghani taking 4 for 28 for Cults then Vineet Khanna followed up with 4 of his own for 30. Inverurie defeated Ellon by 7 wickets at Kellands Park, Ellon captain Ben Webb making 43 then Richard Greenfield chipped in with a quickfire 33. Andy Burr was Inverurie's top wicket taker with 3 for 10. In reply Mark Strachan almost saw Inverurie home in compiling 68 but left it up to Scott White who dispatched Greenfield over long on for 6 to finish on 42 not out for Inverurie.
It was a day for the left handed batsmen at Groats Road as Bon Accord saw off Knightriders by 6 wickets. Pelhaj Tenneti scored exactly 50 not out from the 121 that Knightiders made as the Bashir brothers shared 5 wickets, then in reply Rehan Haider scored 60 not out as Bon Accord cruised home.  Jordan Squire had a day to remember for Stoneywood Dyce first taking 4 for 16 as Gordonians crashed to 100 all out with only Chamila Perera showing any resistance with 34. Then opening the batting Squire made 40 not out along with Stuart Lister who scored 41 not out to lead Stoneywood Dyce home by 10 wickets.

Banchory's battle against the drop didn't go to plan against Super Kings. Despite restricting the visitors to 125 all out with Magesh Devendran top scoring with 44 runs, Super Kings were in inspired form with the ball as Mausam Thapa ripped through the Banchory line up taking 7 for 14 from his 10 overs although Carl Counsell added some respectability to the score with 37 of the 60 that Banchory made. Jeby George scored the days only century scoring 107 in Grampians 241 against 2nd AGSFPs, Josino Aluvathingal also scored a half century in making 67. Pace off the ball seemed to work for Grammar as John Eagles and surprise package Paul Norwood both picked up 4 wicket hauls. In reply 2nd AGSFPs could only muster 121 for 6 from their 45 overs with Raaja Monnapillai scoring 46 not out as the wickets were shared between the Grampian bowlers.
Methlick clearly missed the calming influence of Stuart Anderson at the top of the order on Saturday as they were shot out for 72 in just 27 overs as Clive Hinchliffe rolled back the clock to take 5 for 22 as Stonehaven defended 110 without many scares. The big shock of the day came at Duthie Park as league leaders Siyapa finally dropped some league points.  Siyapa were dismissed for 152 then 2nd Knightriders managed to chase it down with 4 wickets remaining as Mohan Vallatharasu was the hero with 44 not out.

In the Reid Cup Crathie scored an impressive 159 for 3 from their 20 overs with half centuries from both Richard Elson and Rory Humphrey, and in reply Matt Witz scored 62 for Dunecht who fell 55 runs short of the total thanks to good bowling from Justin Thomas with 3 for 19 and Paul Morris with 2 for 0.
In the final Crathie will meet Portcullis after they defeated 2nd Grampian by 8 wickets. Brian Harper produced his best bowling figures in a Portcullis shirt with 5 for 18 as 2nd Grampian were dismissed for 88.  30 from David Mitchell and 20 not out from captain Owen Thorpe saw Portcullis home with minimal fuss. Crathie and Portcullis meet on Finals day at Inverurie on the 11th of August.

The SPCU derby between Mannofield and Gordonians took an unexpected turn in the 6th over of the first innings with a Gordonians fielder being removed from the game by the umpires. The extra gap in the field helped Will Anderson make 78, and a late flurry of 31 accumulated runs from Shay Nanthakumaran took the Mannofield total to 179 all out, Mohit Khosla picking up 3 for 33 for Gordos. Gordonians had to rearrange their top order, but whilst Aman Arora batted through with 66, he lacked support, and Gordos were all out for 137.
Gordonians were not the only title challengers to concede ground to league leaders Meigle as Falkland and Dundee High also lost unexpectedly. The latter 2 sides play Meigle over the next 2 weekends, and the destination of the title could still be up for grabs.
In the EPL, Watsonians would have been content with their 209 for 7 against Stoneywood Dyce, Jamie King taking 3 for 37 for the visitors. 4 SDCC wickets fell before Ewan Davidson joined Liam Lindsay, and they took SDCC to an excellent victory, both unbeaten on 47 and 109 respectively.
43 from Craig Knight helped Aberdeenshire to 171 all out at Grange, but the woes continued for Shire as Grange blasted to victory for the loss of only 1 wicket in 24 overs.
Shire stayed in Edinburgh for their Scottish Cup quarter final against Carlton on the Sunday, but the home side were in rampant form with the bat rattling up an impressive 315 for 6. Wickets fell on a regular basis as Aberdeenshire lost by 218 runs. Carlton will meet Stoneywood Dyce in the semi final as the Ferguslie visit to Peoples Park was a short lived affair. Ferguslie were skittled out for 86 and SDCC cruised to a 7 wicket win.
Hopes were high for some local success in the Gray Nicolls Challenge Cup and after a dreadful start, Bon Accord posted a more than useful 196 against SPCU visitors Perth Doocot, thanks largely to a century from Akhlaq Bashir. Bons put up a good fight as Perth lost 5 wickets chasing the score down. AGSFPs suffered a similar fate as they visited Strathmore, the hosts amassing 205 for 6. In reply, Grammar were bowled out for 130.
