PREVIEW 20TH JULY

With the SPCU deciding to schedule the 2 Counties Cup finals day this Saturday, this may well stretch the resources of Stoneywood-Dyce who will be looking to defend the aforementioned trophy, and put up a good showing at home against Grade 1 leaders Inverurie. The team batting first at Peoples Park has lost in all five Grade 1 matches at the venue this season.

AGSFPs may well be concerned about their trip to Allan Park, with the pitch a bit of a leveller, and hosts Cults having won 3 of their last 4 games.

Bon Accord will be providing the teas as they play Crescent at Links. Crescent will still be without Nathan Thangaraj, and they will have to up their game after defeat to Gordonians last weekend if they are to have any chance of sneaking a surprise result.

Gordonians host Knight Riders at Countesswells minus Indy Pandit but with the addition of Sandy Richards and Jay Bhalani. Richards was in excellent form with the bat for the Gordos SPCU side last Saturday, and if he can bat for a while then this could be a close one.

The bottom 2 teams cross swords at Harlaw as Ellon travel to meet Mannofield. With only one half century between them this season this may be an opportunity for the bowlers to improve their averages.

In Grade 2 Siyapa haven't met Methlick for over a year, and they had a narrow win with one over to spare in that encounter. Siyapa are running away with the Grade 2 title, but Methlick have the bowlers to take advantage of any team who get a little over excited by the short boundaries on offer at Lairds.

Stonehaven have only played three times on an artificial pitch in the last 2 seasons, and they have won them all, so taking on 2nd AGSFPs at Rubislaw shouldn't phase them.

The earlier meeting between 2nd Knight Riders and Fraserburgh saw the Broch side record a 10 wicket win, but the chances of them repeating that sort of result at Groat Roads seem slim.

The G2 match of the day could be at Sheddocksley as Grampian host Aberdeen Super Kings, with both teams on a consistent run of form.

In Grade 3, Portcullis will be looking to extend their lead in Grade 3 as Dunecht pitch up to Duthie Park. 2nd Gordonians will be hoping to break their losing streak at home to 2nd Grampian, but junior participation will be their primary aim, and 2nd Methlick will be rewarded with the famous Crathie pies as they make the journey to the royal estate.

In the SPCU NE Championship the big match is at Meigle as Falkland look to puncture the unbeaten run of the hosts, although this could boil down to a battle of the Sri Lankan professionals. Mannofield will need to be close to their best to take points off their on form visitors from Perth, and Gordonians go to Dundee High trying to reverse their recent slump.

In the Eastern Premier League all roads lead to Edinburgh as Aberdeenshire and Stoneywood-Dyce face Heriots and RH Corstorphine respectively. The form guide suggests that SDCC are the most likely to return home with a win, but every game is now a pressure cooker for Shire as time ticks away on their potential escape from relegation. The one crumb of comfort might be that Stewarts Melville won't be expected to improve their league position against Grange.

Stoneywood-Dyce are in Edinburgh on the Sunday as well as they take on Carlton in the Scottish Cup semi final. Carlton have crushed Forfarshire, Grange and Aberdeenshire in earlier rounds, whilst SDCC have cruised past lower league opponents, hopefully keeping something in reserve to derail the Edinburgh giants.
