PREVIEW of 3RD/4TH AUGUST

Grade 1 leaders Bon Accord have a day off as Stoneywood Dyce have been unable to raise a side for Saturday. AGSFPs travel to Ellon, the home side hoping someone can break the 50 barrier with the bat, this being a marginally easier prospect as the visitors are without Fraser Proud to support the returning Mapplebeck.

Inverurie might find the short boundaries of the artificial pitch at Countesswells a challenge as they take on a strong Gordonians side, and Knight Riders may find Allan Park equally challenging as they face Cults. Mannofield host an under strength Crescent at Harlaw in the other Grade 1 match.

In Grade 2, with Siyapa not involved this Saturday, Grampian head to Methlick looking for a win to narrow the gap at the top, and Aberdeen Super Kings will be looking to do the same as they play 2nd AGSFPs at Rubislaw. Fraserburgh have a long journey to Banchory and Stonehaven meet 2nd Knight Riders at Groats Road.

Grade 3 leaders Portcullis are at Sheddocksley against 2nd Grampian, and nearest challengers Crathie will be dishing up the pies at Balmoral to 2nd Gordonians who are boosted by the return of Alex Hounsome to their batting line up. 2nd Methlick are on duty at Dunecht in the remaining fixture.

Sunday will be busy at Peoples Park as the T20 Turriff Cup winners will be decided. Play starts at 11am as Crescent take on Bon Accord, followed by Gordonians v Knight Riders, with the final expected to start around about 6pm.

Back to Saturday, and the Eastern Premier League leaders Forfarshire bring their star studded batting line up to Aberdeen to play Stoneywood-Dyce. The phrase 'must win match' applies to Aberdeenshire as they head to Edinburgh to play RH Corstorphine. Grange will be expected to win at Arbroath, and the most significant of the Edinburgh derbies will see Stewarts Melville at Heriots.

In the SPCU NE Championship, Meigle could just about seal the title if they win at Forthill, but Strathmore should beat Kinloch to keep things alive until next weekend. Perth Doocot go to Dalnacraig to play Dundee High, with the latter slight favourites to win and replace the visitors in 3rd spot. Harsha Cooray will be back on his old stomping ground as Falkland come to Mannofield, and Gordonians host Arbroath at Countesswells as they look to halt their lengthy run of defeats.

Sunday is 3 Counties Cup finals day at Falkland. The first semi final should be a cracker between Falkland and Dundee High, and the other semi final will see Gordonians play Arbroath. Gordonians will be defending the cup that they have won in 3 out of the last 4 seasons, but their recent league displays suggest that the cup may well end up in the hands of the winner of the other semi final.
