Despite the closest final for some years, Bon Accord once again emerged as winners of the Thistle sports Sevens, to make it eight titles in a row.
With just 9 runs needed from the last five balls, and the openers going strongly, Stonehaven - the last side to beat Bon Accord in the competition, when they eliminated them at the semi-final stage in 1999 - looked well placed to end the Bons' dominance of the competition, until a one-handed catch in the deep disposed of man of the match Alex Keith just 4 short of a well-merited half-century. Two dot balls and another wicket followed to see the title holders squeeze home for another season.
In the earlier semi-finals, Bon Accord had beaten Banchory, while Stonehaven disposed of St Ronald.
