Grades Cricket 14 July 2007

Kintore's victory over Bon Acord in a low-scoring encounter at Castle Park suggests that only a cataclysmic loss of form over the last few weeks of the season can prevent the Grade 1 title again returning to Cults.

Despite dismissing Kintore for only 106, the current title-holders were themselves dismissed for just 59, opening a significant percentage gap between themselves and the Allan Park side, who comfortably beat Banchory to retain their unbeaten record in the league for the season.

At the foot of the Grade 1 table, Grammar FPs recorded a second successive draw; but despite this look odds on to go down to Grade 2 with Artisans, who lost to Ellon at the Duthie Park.

In Grade 2 2nd Cults continue to entertain hopes of making it two Allan Park teams in next season's top slight, while St Ronald had to settle for a draw at home to Gordonians, and Caledonian remain in contention following their walkover against Crescent.

2nd Kintore's defeat by Dunecht in a low-scoring game on the Cowdray Estate strengthens Crathie's home of going up as Grade 3 champions, while in Grade 4 Methlick's game against Banchory was one of three games to fall victim to Friday's overnight rain. These added to the previously-agreed postponements of the games involving Stonehaven, presently on a mid-season tour.
