Few surprises in week 2
There were few surprises in the top league in the second round of fixtures in the Thistle Sports Grades as Cults, Bon Accord and Kintore all recorded victories, while there were second defeats for Inverurie, Mannofield and promoted 2nd Cults.
At the Duthie Park however Caledonian put up a sound performance, dismissing Cults for 167 before Masud again turned in another match-winning bowling performance for the current champions. Bon Accord and Kintore also lost over half their wickets in overhauling the low scores posted by Inverurie and Banchory respectively.
In Grade 2, Grammar FPs and St Ronald remain on full points, though the latter were made to fight all the way before beating Fraserburgh by just two runs. Crathie bounced back from their opening defeat by Grammar to beat Methlick at Lairds; but there was further woe for Queens Cross as they went down against Gordonians at Harlaw. Kemnay hung on for a draw against Artisans.
In Grade 3, 2nd Kintore continue to set the pace, defeating relegated Crescent; while Dunecht were also in form against Turriff. 2nd Ellon won a low-scoring local derby against 2nd Methlick, while Anchorians held out for a draw against 2nd Banchory.
2nd St Ronald emulated their seniors by making it a second successive victory in Grade 4, Dave Gibb taking a hattrick; while 2nd Stonehaven and 2nd Queens Cross beat Gordonians and Mannofield respectively.
