Grades Results 14 June 2008
For the first time this season, bad weather took a significant role in the Grades in Saturday, with a significant number of games being called off before commencement due to waterlogged pitches.
In a relatively full Grade 1 programme however, Bon Accord remain top of the table following a predictably comfortable win over promoted Caledonian, while Cults’ win at Kintore means that they now overtake their hosts in second place. Elsewhere, Mannofield took valuable points from Ellon, to move away from the relegation zone; while Stonehaven slipped back further to fourth place following their draw with Banchory.
In Grade 2 the games involving top sides, St Ronald, Gordonians and Grammar FPs, were all void; but Fraserburgh comfortably beat Academy, while Queens Cross’s recovery continued with victory over Methlick at Lairds.
In Grade 3 also the top sides, 2nd Kintore and 2nd Banchory, were washed out; but at the foot there were important wins for Anchorians and Crescent over 2nd Grammar and 2nd Ellon, respectively.
Only 2nd Stonehaven’s game was completed in Grade 4, their win over 2nd St Ronald, enabling them to leapfrog over previous leaders Portcullis in the race for top spot.
The Grade Select’s game against Huntly in the Three Counties Cup has been confirmed for Wednesday evening, while Monday sees the remaining group matches in the Thistle Sports Sevens, which will determine the qualifiers for the final stages from Group A, and the remaining places in the last stages of the Plate competition, the Duncan Cup, won last year by Queens Cross.
