Preview 19th/20th July 2008

A busy weekend of cricket for some clubs is in prospect with the semi-finals of the Bon Accord and Reid Cups taking place on Sunday, as well as a full programme of league games on Saturday.

In the last four of the Bon Accord Cup, Artisans travel to play Methlick at Lairds, while Queens Cross have a home tie against Gordonians.  The Reid Cup semis see Crescent pitted against 2nd Methlick at the Links, while 2nd Ellon entertain a Turriff side still entertaining hopes of a Grade 3 league and cup double.  Form suggests a Crescent-Turriff final for this one.

Saturday’s league programme meanwhile is unlikely to bring any relief for either Caledonian or 2nd Cults, who are at home to Kintore and Stonehaven respectively; while Bon Accord should also remain in the title race with home advantage against Ellon.

At the top of Grade 2 St Ronald take on Artisans, while Grammar entertain Fraserburgh, and Gordonians are at home to Crathie, in a match which they really need to win to remain in promotion contention.  At the foot meanwhile Kemnay travel to play Methlick at Lairds.

With home advantage, Turriff and 2nd Kintore will hope to reinforce their promotion hopes from Grade 3, while 2nd Banchory – leaders for much of the earlier part of the season, will need to show a recovery of form against a Stoneywood-Dyce side at the Duthie Park.  2nd Stonehaven take on 2nd Queens Cross at the top of Grade 4, while Portcullis travel to face 2nd Dunecht
