It has been many years since we have had such a bad start to the cricket season and yet, once again, the Aberdeen rain got the better of cricket, with a 100% washout of this weekend’s league fixture all games were called off well in advance of the scheduled 13:00 start.
It was glorious sunshine on Sunday for the Cup games allowing games in both the Aberdeenshire Cup and Bon Accord Cup to be completed. However; due to their opposition scratching Mannofield are through to the next round of the Aberdeenshire Cup with both 2nd Gordonians and Crescent through to the next round of the Reid Cup.
In the Aberdeenshire Cup the only remaining game of Stonehaven and Cults ended with Cults setting a target of 179 with N Jadav (78) that Stonehaven were unable to reach.
In the Bon Accord Cup Fraserburgh’s batting L Bowie (74) and S Amin (50) helped set a target of 211 that proved too big a task for the Caledonian team despite 61 from A Smith. Meanwhile in the Crathie and AGSFP’s fixture Crathie’s target of 138 was easily overhauled by AGSFP’s man-of-the-match honours going to Roland Knudson taking 4 for 27 and 87no.
On Monday 18th at 6:00pm sees the venue for the 3 Counties Cup for the Grades Select v Stoneywood-Dyce game switched to the Gordonians home ground at Countesswell.
