Cinnamon Grades Results 13th/14th June 2009

Bon Accord continue to dominate the top of Grade 1 setting a blistering 218 off 40 overs which Stonehaven never really looked to trouble the leaders as they slumped to 73 all out, with pick of the batting and bowling for Bon Accord from N. Mirza 86 and 3-2 and new boy G. Narasimman 4-10. At Kellands Park the chanceless batting of G Coutts 74 and the pace of the home sides’ new acquisition of P Skevington 4-28 helped confirm their 3rd place on the table as they beat Gordonians who along with St Ronald look to be heading back to Grade 2. At Castle Road Kintore comfortably managed to hold the visitors Mannofield to a draw with last weeks Mannofield man-of-match C Burnett 58 getting another half century. The Banchory and Ellon matches against Cults and St Ronald respectively were rained off.

In Grade 2 2nd Cults easily overhauled the 2nd Banchory total of 155, spearheaded by the bowling of youngster W. Liversidge (6-35) and batting from veteran P. Gill (43). At the Lairds ground despite the formidable AGSFP total (225) helped with the batting from R. Knudson (57), C. Clelland (47) and G. Millar (47) and bowling from J. Eagles (4-22) were unable to secure victory as the home side Methlick hung onto their last wicket for a draw. At Duthie Park Artisans finally secured their 1st win of the season against the struggling 2nd Kintore side who were also looking for their 1st win, instead now look to be returning back to Grade 3. Meanwhile across town at Sheddocksley, Caledonian were unable to reach the Queens Cross total (214) slumping to 83 all out, with pick of the batting for Queens Cross from K. Rae 139. The Fraserburgh and Crathie match was rained off.

In Grade 3 leaders Anchorians continue to dominate the pole position as they setup a total of 208 spearheaded by the double act of batting and bowling by S. Battula (60no and 4-8) and C. Forbes (56 and 3-9) and then crushing Turriff 38 all out. At Duthie Park Academy bowled out the Dunecht visitors for a very low total (47) but only just managed to secure victory with their last wicket in hand. At Countesswells 2nd Gordonians continued with their winning streak as they bowled out 2nd Methlick for 97 led by the bowling of N. Garda (6-21) and A. Nalam (4-45). Over at Bogbeth Park Kemnay secured their 1st win of the season by skittering 2nd Ellon all out for 86 led by the bowling of youngster M. Fyffe (5-33). Crescent bounced back from their defeat last week to setup a total (221) that proved too much despite the bowling efforts of 2nd Stonehaven from C. Findlay (4-50) for the 2nd Stonehaven side to chase down with pick of the batting for Crescent from C. Samarasekara (123) and bowling from R. Swabey (5-22).

In the Semi-finals of the Johnston Cup the encounter between 2nd St Ronald and 2nd Mannofield, despite the bowling efforts from 2nd Mannofield of D. Pethick (4-45), resulted in a comfortable win for 2nd St Ronald with pick of the batting for St Ronald from A. Deep (102). At the other Semi-final the wheels came off the Portcullis wagon as they collapsed to 19 all out allowing 2nd Queens Cross to easily overtake the very low target.

On Sunday in the Aberdeenshire Cup saw Bon Accord, Cults and Gordonians through to the Semi-finals to be played on Sunday 19th July with Cults hosting Gordonians and Bon Accord having to wait to see if they will be travelling up to Gordon Park to play Ellon or with Mannofield as the rain disrupted play. Notable batting for Bon Accord from R. Dhaiman (81), for Methlick from C.Addison (63) and for Banchory from T. Donald (51).

The Bon Accord Cup saw Queens Cross, Fraserburgh and 2nd Cults through to the Semi-finals to be played on Sunday 19th July with Queens Cross hosting Fraserburgh and with 2nd Cults having to find a venue (as their 1st team will be hosting Gordonians in the Aberdeenshire Cup semi-final) to host the winner of the match between Artisans and 2nd Banchory which was rained off.
