Cinnamon Grades Cricket Preview 27/28th June 2009

Although the Grades cricket season is only at its halfway point Bon Accord could take a significant step towards securing this season’s Grade 1 title if they repeat their Small Clubs Cup defeat of Cults this weekend.  At the foot of the table meanwhile Gordonians and St Ronald will be looking for an early recovery of form if they are to keep open their slim chances of avoiding the drop back to Grade 2 after just one season in the top flight.

Also on Saturday Kintore and Inverurie meet in a local derby, with form this season suggesting that the visitors have their best chance in many years of a win; while Mannofield with home advantage will fancy their chances against Banchory.

In Grade 2 Grammar FPs take on Fraserburgh, while match of the day looks to be between second-placed Queens Cross and third-placed Methlick; with relagtion-threatened 2nd Kintore and Artisans travelling to Crathie and 2nd Banchory, respectively.

In Grade  3 Anchorians and 2nd Gordonians continue to set the pace; while in Grade 4 2nd Grammar and, despite losing a number of players, Portcullis along with 2nd Queens Cross continue to contest the promotion spots.  Huntly’s game against 2nd St Ronald is postponed due to a sporting event at the home side’s ground.

Sundays sees the quarter finals of the Turriff Cup with Bon Accord once again drawn against Gordonians, while holders Mannofield will play the winners of the postponed round 1 game between Cults and Kintore at the Allan Park.
