Cinnamon Grades Results 11th June 2009

Bon Accord (222) continue to dominate the race for the Grade 1 title, this time inflicting a crushing defeat on the Mannofield team who were skittled out for 45, with notable batting for Bon Accord from F. Awan (65) and A. Mears (62) and bowling from N. Mirza (5-27). Over at Mineralwell Park, Stonehaven held out for a draw as the Gordonians total (229) spearheaded by the batting of I. Selkirk (72) proved too much to chase down. Despite the batting and bowling effort for Inverurie from G. Coutts (67) and J. Jessiman (4-68) respectively, Ellon led by the batting of S. Davis (68) and bowling of J. Barrett (4-9) bounced back from their defeat last week with a comfortable win over the Inverurie home side. Meanwhile in town, St Ronald, despite a 5 wicket haul from V. Bode (5-42) were unable to restrict the Cults visitors from setting up a formidable total (237) led by a century from K. Laghate (112) and then dismissing St Ronald for 85 led by the bowling of last years leading Grade 1 wicket taker, M. Javaid (6-13). At Burnett Park, Banchory had to settle for a draw as they were unable to take the last 2 Kintore wickets, with a notable half century for Banchory from S. Hassan (57) and for Kintore from C. Laird (90) who missed out on his century.

In Grade 2 the struggling Artisan side were unable to chase down the Caledonian total (216) as they were skittled out for 86. Out of town at Fraserburgh the home side comfortably beat Methlick closing the gap between the two sides and perhaps more importantly increasing the gap between the two relegation spots. Down at Balmoral castle Crathie, led by the batting of T. Summers (46) who narrowly missed out on his half century recovered from their defeat last week to beat the 2nd Banchory visitors. Over at Allan Park the Queens Cross visitors continued their winning streak as they narrowly beat 2nd Cults with their last wicket standing in a very closely contested match with notable batting for Queens Cross from M. Shepherd (62) and for Cults E. Spearman (47) and P. Gill (47) both batsman just missing out on their half centuries. AGSFP continued to hold pole position without playing a game as 2nd Kintore scratched their second fixture of the season bring them perilously close to all their games being void.

In Grade 3 The pole position holders, Anchorians set a total (263) led by the batting and bowling from man-of–the-match skipper C. Forbes (78 and 6-26) with batting from C. Ravi (63) and bowling from G. Sharma (5-3), proved too big a total for the Crescent side to chase down as they were skittled out for 70. Over at Gordon Park the Turriff visitors total (132) despite a half century from S. Mallesmappa (56) was not enough as the 2nd Ellon team easily reached their target. At Countesswells, 2nd Gordonians reinforced their runner-up promotion position as they comfortable beat Kemnay who seemed destined for relegation as they prepare next week to meet Anchorians. Meanwhile at the Lairds ground the 2nd Methlick total (192) led by centurion S. Kennedy (116) and batting and bowling from man-of-the-match B. Carr (49no and 5-12) who narrowly missed out on his half century as his side reached the required runs comfortably beating the Dunecht team, as did for Academy, man-of-the-match J. Singh (49no and 5-20) with their opponents 2nd Stonehaven who found the Academy total (217) too big an ask, as they were bowled out for 82.

In Grade 4 the two promotion spots continue to be the closest contested for many years as the pole position holders AGSFP were held to a draw by Huntly who managed to hold on to their last wicket, with notable batting for AGSFP from G. Morrison (70). Just up the road from the AGSFP ground at Sheddocksley, the 2nd Mannofield total (188) led by the batting of centurion J. Milne (101) and restricted by the bowling of 14 year old youngster F. Proud (6-31) got the better of the Portcullis side as they were bowled out for 149. Meanwhile out at the Cowdry Estate the visitor’s, 2nd St Ronald set a substantial total (302) led by the batting of centurion and man-of–the-match A. Rao (107 and 3-20) ably supported by T. Singh (52) and bowling from M. Khosla (6-10) to comfortably beat 2nd Dunecht despite the bowling effort for 2nd Dunecht from S. Winstanley (5-60). Stoneywood-Dyce scratched their encounter with 2nd Queens Cross leaving the Harlow side in the runner-up spot.
