The Grades’ fixture list was thrown into major confusion at the weekend as Friday’s monsoon conditions meant that only thee games were completed in Saturday’s league programme; and with the reverse fixtures having been void in May, most will now have to be re-arranged. Under Grade Rules these should be played at the first date available to both teams; but with the cup semi-finals already slipping back, and only three pitches – two at Sheddocklsey and one at the Links – now available on a Sunday some town teams could now find themselves playing into September.
In the only game to be completed in the top three divisions Ellon comfortably beat Banchory, Harry Woolridge-Gordon featuring with both bat and ball, while father Charles top-scored with 46; while in Grade 4 Queens Cross stengthened their promotion challenge with a victory over bottom side 2nd Dunecht, and Stoneywood-Dyce beat Portcullis by five wickets in the only game completed at the Duthie Park.
Renewed rain also meant that the Aberdeenshire Cup semi-final between Cults and Gordonians was postponed, as was the Reid Cup game scheduled between 2nd Stonehaven and 2nd Methlick. Both will now be played next week.
In the Small Clubs Cup Bon Accord had a comfortable win over Dollar and are now through to the final which will be played next Sunday at Fruchie.
