Cinnamon Grades Results 25th/26th July 2009

The favourite for the Grade 1 title Bon Accord did not disappoint the bookies as they comfortably beat third placed Ellon with notable batting and bowling for Bon Accord from T. Malik (27 and 4 for 31) and for Ellon the bowling of Youngster H. W-Gordon (3 for 29). Over at Alan Park the formidable Cults total (252 for 8) which was setup by the batting of N. Jadhav (83 not out) and K. Laghate (48) was overhauled by the Mannofield team as they won by 4 wickets with 1 over to spare, led by the batting of C. Burnett (107) and youngster A. Lewis (52). Out of town at Mineralwell Park, Stonehaven entertained their neighbour Banchory in a thrilling run chase as Banchory attempted to overhaul the Stonehaven total (201), but were denied the win by 11 runs as the lost their last wicket, with notable batting for Stonehaven from A. Milroy (73) and batting and bowling for Banchory from T. Donald (52) and R. Brown (4 for 48) respectively. With time running out St Ronald still continue to look for their first win of the season as they were denied by the Inverurie visitors who comfortable reached the St Ronald total (108) with 9 wickets in hand led by the batting and bowling of G. Coutts (51 not out and 3 for 13) who was ably supported by the batting of youngster S. Randall (26 not out). The surprised of the day was the flooding of the Countesswells pitch which scuppered the Gordonians and Kintore encounter.

In Grade 2 any of the 6 teams below AGSFP are in with a chance of going up as runner-up as AGSFP extends their pole position lead by crushing Queens Cross all out for 45, who despite the defeat still manage to hold onto the runner-up position. Meanwhile at Castle Road the 2nd Cults visitors total (144) was too big an ask for the struggling home team as 2nd Kintore were skittled out for 27 led by the batting and bowling of B. Milne (38 not out and 5 for 15). Meanwhile Artisans along with 2nd Kintore look destined for the Grade 3 drop as Artisans lost to Fraserburgh who were led by the batting of M. Watson (65 not out) and M. Ironside (42). Down at Balmoral castle, Crathie lost valuable points, knocking them down from 3rd to 6th position as they were defeated by their furthest Grade 2 opponents Methlick, who were led by the batting of S. Anderson (52 not out) and bowling of C. Addison (5 for 14). Across the other side of Aberdeenshire, Banchory’s flooding pitch problems continued as the prolonged down pour on Friday disrupted any chance of play on the Saturday afternoon fixture against Caledonian.

On top of Grade 3 the clash between leaders Anchorians and second placed 2nd Gordonians resulted in a draw with notable batting and bowling for Anchorians from skipper C. Forbes (67 and 2 for 21) and T. Malreddy (49 not out and 2 for 23), this result leaves both teams in strong positions for the two promotion spots where it is perhaps more than likely the 2nd Gordonians team will meet their first team. Despite the batting for Turriff from S. Malleshappa (77) the Turriff total (175) was not enough as the Academy visitors cruised past the total with the loss of just 2 wickets led by the batting of S. Durret (100 not out) and R. Tonoy (47). A formidable 2nd Methlick total (203) led by an undefeated century from S. Murphy (138 not out) proved too much for the struggling Kemnay visitors as they were skittled out for 56 and now look set to take the plunge down to Grade 4 along with Dunecht who lost to Crescent. Out at Gordon Park the 2nd Stonehaven total (146) seemed very gettable, until N. King took to bowling his spell of 10 overs including 6 maidens and taking 8 wickets for 9 runs bowling 2nd Ellon all out for 50.

In Grade 4 the pole position changed hands as 2nd Queens Cross beat 2nd AGSFP knocking them into 3rd position just below 2nd St Ronald who in their encounter with Stoneywood-Dyce were led by the bowling from brothers A. Rao (4 for 54) and G. Rao (3 for 32) and batting from M. Khosla (44) and the third brother S. Rao (40) comfortable beat Stoneywood-Dyce despite a half century from C. Moir (56). The batting and bowling efforts from centurion A. Maidment (110 and 3 for 29) for Portcullis was nearly not enough as Huntly narrowly missed out on a win falling short by 7 runs as they had to settle for a draw led by the batting of 13 year old youngster Hamish Ritchie who recorded his maiden half century (57) and took 2 for 15. 2nd Mannofield crushed 2nd Dunecht by firstly setting a mammoth total (231) led by the batting from undefeated centurion C. Johnston (104 not out) and J. Niven (73) and then bowling out the 2nd Dunecht side for 40.

All re-scheduled games postponed from last week due to rain were washed out again and have been re-scheduled for next Sunday, including the Small Clubs Cup Final.
