In Grade 1 Bon Accord set a total of 209-9 off 40 overs, led by the batting from A. Win (61) and bowling from skipper T. Malik (6-30), which, despite the batting for the Banchory home side from W. Ali (68) proved too much to chase down as they were bowled out for 162. Down at the beach Mannofield set a total (149) that the Kintore side looked to reach easily with batting performance from G. Prosser (72), but with new boy N. Jadhav taking key wickets (5-22) the visitors fell just 8 runs short of victory, leaving the Mannofield side with 100 percent win record in pole position. Out of town at Gordon Park, the Ellon total (187-7) helped by the batting from brothers C White (40) S. White (32) comfortably beat the AGSFP’s visitors. The surprise of the day was at Alan Park where the Inverurie visitors set a total (203-7) supported by the batting from G. Hadden (72) with bowling from G. Coutts (4-23) and B. Skevington (3-27), that the Cults home side never looked to trouble as they were dismissed for 111 off 30 overs. Out at Mineralwell Park the Stonehaven total (249-9) led by a century and bowling effort from J van der Ruit (101 and 3-6) proved too much for the Queens Cross visitors, despite a valiant batting effort from A. Russell (59) with bowling from B. Findlay (4-55) and A. McHoul (4-60) leaving the promoted visitors still looking for their first win of the season.
In Grade 2 at DP2 the two promoted Duthie Park sides Anchorians and Crescent ended with Anchorians getting the better of their neighbour as they skittled out Crescent for 69 with new boy P. Malireddy (4-23) and skipper C. Forbes (3-8) doing most of the bowling damage for Anchorians. Next door at DP1 Caledonian, so far, set the highest total of the season (283-8 off 35 overs) led by a century from H. Saraswat (127) which the 2nd Banchory visitors failed to hold out for a draw as they were bowled out for 119 off 46 overs. Down at Balmoral the Crathie side total (123) was comfortably passed by the Cults-Artisans visitors with notable batting for Crathie from P. Cunningham (59) and for Cults-Artisans a good all round performance from S. Dickie (37 not out and 3-8) and batting from H. Vadlamudi (52 not out). Back in the City, perhaps one of the most exciting games of the day, with the Kings Street home side St. Ronald, setting the second highest total (269-5 off 38 overs) of the season so far, which the Methlick visitors fell just 13 runs short of chasing down ending as a draw which included centuries for St. Ronald from R. Haider (163 not out including 13 sixes) and for Methlick from S. Anderson (140). Out at the Broch the Fraserburgh total (151) was chased down by the Gordonians visitors with notable batting for Fraserburgh from C. Bowie (47) and for Gordonians from P. Ballal (66 not out).
In Grade 3 the 2nd Kintore side total (118) which was restricted by the bowling for the 2nd Gordonians visitors from M. Suthanthiran (5-24) and C. Pettitt (4-37), was comfortably passed. Next door the Dunecht side suffered a major collapse as they were skittled out for 24 by the Academy visitors, with the damage done by S. Singh (6-7) and A. Mateed (4-16). At the Lairds ground the 2nd Methlick side low score (73) was easily passed by the 2nd Stonehaven visitors with notable bowling for 2nd Stonehaven from A. Long (3-11) and C. Findlay (3-20). At Harlow the 2nd Queens Cross side, like their 1st team, failed to find their first win of the season, as the 2nd Ellon visitors easily passed the 2nd Queens Cross total (99). Next door, the 2nd AGSFP’s total (120) was comfortably reached by the 2nd St. Ronald side, despite the bowling effort for 2nd AGSFP’s from K. Whyte (6-47), with notable batting for 2nd St. Ronald from M. Rizwan (61 not out) and supported by the bowling from skipper S. Bhatti (4-28).
In Grade 4 the Turriff side total (179-8) proved to be enough as the 3rd Gordonians side were bowled out for 143 with notable batting for 3rd Gordonians from S. Memon (76) and for Turriff batting from D. Chalmers (40) and bowling from P. Bijl (6-22). Back at Duthie Park Stoneywood-Dyce jumped into pole position as they skittled out the young 2nd Mannofield side. Out at Huntly the Portcullis side total (299-8 off 45 overs) paid the price for not declaring early as the young Huntly Highlanders side held out for a draw with notable batting for Portcullis from K. Nair (93) and M. Maidmant (45) and for Huntly Highlanders batting from M. Heyman (68) supported by 13 year old Hamish Ritchie (15) with 12 year old Kirsty Gordon (4 not out) and bowling from F. McLean (4-56). Back in the city, at Sheddocksley, Knightriders suffered their fist defeat as the Bogbeth Park visitors, Kemnay passed the Knightriders total (117) with man-of-the match honours shared for the Kemnay side by J. Tomlinson (23 not out and 3-30) and R. West (36 and 2-23).
In the Reid Cup, Preliminary Round, 2nd Stonehaven comfortably reached the 2nd Methlick side total (94) and are through to the quarter finals as are 2nd Gordonians with the Dunecht side scratching; both teams will play at their home grounds against 2nd St. Ronald and 2nd Queens Cross respectively, scheduled for Sunday 6th June.
In the Johnston Rose Bowl, Preliminary Round, the Huntly Highlanders total (162) was enough to secure victory against the 2nd Mannofield side who were bowled out for 110 off 30 overs. The pick of the batting for 2nd Mannofield batting was by youngster Fraser Proud (43 not out) and for Huntly Highlanders from K. Davies (57) and 13 year old youngster Hamish Ritchie (22) again with youngester Kirsty Gordon chipping in with 10 runs and the bowling from F. McLean 5-20 and J. Higgins (3-23). Huntly Highlanders are now through to the quarter finals where they will host the 3rd Gordonians side visitors scheduled for Sunday 6th June.
