In Grade 1 down at the beach the AGSFP’s side total (161-7) helped by a super undefeated innings by J. Moir (86 not out including 10 sixes) supported by youngster James Lord (13 not out) but restricted by the bowling from M. Byrne (4-37) seemed a relative easy target as the Mannofield side cruised to 101-3, until some inspired bowling from J. Eagles (4-20) including the run-out wicket of C. Burnett (51) led to the dramatic Mannofield collapse of 114 all out. Out at Kellands Park the Inverurie side total (130) restricted by the bowling for Bon Accord from N. Mirza (4-20) and despite a valiant batting effort from M. Strachan (74) was not enough as the Bon Accord side comfortably reached their target helped by the batting from F. Awan (54 not out). At Banchory the Queens Cross visitors, still looking for their first win of the season, set a total (204 of 38 overs) helped by the batting from A. Russell (68) was enough, but were unable to take the last Banchory Wicket, helped by a good all round performance from W. Ali (42 and 3-55) and had to settle for a draw. Out at Mineralwell Park the Stonehaven total (183-6 off 46 overs) helped by Skipper A. Milroy (86) but restricted by the bowling of R. Greenfield (5-32) could not be chased down by the Ellon visitors but hung onto their last wicket and had to settle for a draw (149-9) leaving both teams on equal percentage with the Stonehaven side just piping the Ellon side into second position with a superior run rate, wickets taken and runs against. The Cults v Kintore encounter failed to materialise as the Alan Park pitch was waterlogged. These results leave the chasing pack second, third and fourth clubs; Stonehaven, Ellon and Cults, with only one percent difference.
In Grade 2 at Duthie Park the Caledonian total (156), helped by the batting from K Kumar (69) was not enough as the Balmoral Estate, Crathie side visitors, comfortably reached their target (158-5) aided by the batting from new boy D. Sims (65 not out). Across town, at the Kings College ground the St. Ronald side total (194-8 off 45 overs) helped by the all round performance from V. Bode (52 and 4-37) and batting from B. Joshi (43) was too much for the Anchorians visitors to chase down or to hold out for a draw, despite the batting effort from skipper C. Forbes (46), as they were bowled out with 2 balls to spare (167-10 off 44.4 overs). Back at Duthie Park the Gordonians total (233) setup with batting from I. Yahathugoda (79), skipper J. Stark (50) and M. Suthanthiran (46) was too much for the promoted Crescent side, who are still looking for their first win, as they were skittled out for 21 with much of the bowling damage inflicted by B. Thomson (6-5). Out at the Lairds ground the Methlick side made short work of their visitors as they restricted the 2nd Banchory side total to 51, with much of the bowling damage carried out by C. Addison (5-18), the home side comfortably reached their target without loss. The amalgamated Cults-Artisans visit to Fraserburgh returned another win for the pole position side helped by the batting from S. Dickie (48) and A. Munro (48) and bowling from M. Sekar (5-25), despite the bowling performance for Fraserburgh from youngster Fraser Lawrance (5-26). These results leave the top three clubs; Cults-Artisans, Gordonians and St. Ronald, with only three percent difference.
In Grade 3 at the Cowdry Park Estate, the 2nd Stonehaven side total (74), with much of the damage inflicted by the bowling for the Dunecht side from D. Peerless (5-25), was chased down by the home side allowing them a second win of the season. Back in town, the 2nd Queens Cross side who are still looking for their first win, slumped to a low total (44) with much of the bowling damage done by (T Dureja 6-18), that the 2nd Gordonians visitors comfortably reached (45-1). Out at Castle Road the 2nd St. Ronald total (251-10 off 42 overs, which at one stage of the game was 36 for 6), with batting performances from new boy K. Imran (90) and T. Singh (52) proved too much for the 2nd Kintore side to chase down as they held out for a draw (136-7) with notable all round performance for the 2nd Kintore side from L. Maxfield (22 and 2-60) with youngster Stephen McIntyre (1-32 c&b) chipping in. Next door at Gordon Park, the 2nd Ellon total (165-7 off 46 overs), bought the Academy visitors winning streak to an end as they were bowled out for 123 with S. Middleton (6-38) taking the key wickets. Over at Rubislaw, the 2nd AGSFP’s side matched their first team’s winning streak by setting a total (230-5 off 46 overs) which included an undefeated century from J. Davey, that the 2nd Methlick visitors never looked to chase down as they were bowled out for 84, with much of the damage inflicted by the bowling from new boy M. Devendran (5-36). These results leave 2nd St Ronald out in front with 92 percent with the chasing pack Academy, 2nd Ellon, 2nd Gordonians, 2nd Stonehaven and 2nd AGSFP’s on 82, 78, 77, 73 and 71 percent respectively.
In Grade 4 at Sheddocksley, the 3rd Gordonians side total (78) was comfortably chased down by the 2nd Mannofield side with good all-round performance for Mannofield from O. Ayaz (38 not out and 2-14). On the next pitch at Sheddocksley, Knightriders jumped into pole position helped by the batting from N. Patherikadavil (42) and R. Majeed (39 not out), as they comfortably overtook the Stoneywood-Dyce total (110-9 off 46 overs), despite the batting performance for Stoneywood-Dyce from M. McPherson (42). Across town, at Duthie Park the Portcullis home side failed by just 9 runs (129-8 off 48 overs) to chase down the Turriff side total (137-10 off 41.1 overs) and had to settle for a draw despite a very good all-round performance for the Portcullis side from skipper K. Nair (40 and 4-24). 2nd Dunecht were unable to raise a team, and therefore scratched their fixture against Huntly. These results now leave four teams 4 percent between them with the Knightriders in pole position on 88 percent with the chasing pack Kemnay, Portcullis and Stoneywood-Dyce on 87, 86 and 85 percent respectively.
In the Turriff Cup Round 1 competition, Ellon go through to the quarter finals without facing a ball as AGSFP’s scratched, the Ellon side will now travel down to Burnett Park where they will face the Banchory side. Meanwhile, Bon Accord v Mannofield and St. Ronald v Kintore were rained off and will be played at a later date. The Gordonians v Cults encounter had to be postponed as the Countesswells ground was unavailable due to the aftermath of the Robert Gordon School Sports day.
The Kwik Cricket u11 festival at Mannofield was also rained off.
