The weekend saw the end to the Grades Cricket. On Saturday, in Grade 1 Kintore travelled to Mineralwell Park setting a total of 148 for 7 off 46 overs which the Stonehaven home side fell just 6 run short of victory and had to settle for a draw with Tim Donald (58) for Stonehaven and Gareth Prosser (57) for Kintore both securing a final half century’s to end their campaign for this season. Back in the City, in Grade 4 the Huntly Highlanders travelled down to Duthie Park 3 to complete their postponed game against the Portcullis side, setting a total (164) led by Father and son duo M. Heyman (44), Stuart Heyman (32 and 2-38) and youngster Hamish Ritchie (29) which proved not enough as the Portcullis side comfortably reached their target in 37 overs. Meanwhile across at the Duthie Park 2 pitch in the Turriff Cup semi-finals the Grade 4 champions, Knightriders took on the Grade 1 side Banchory setting a total (151 for 7) which despite an excellent all round performance from the Banchory skipper Sajid Hassan (6-16 and 47) proved too much for the Banchory side to chase down as they ran out of overs, allowing the Knightriders side into the Final, next door at the Duthie Park 1 pitch the Mannofield side progressed through to the final by setting a total (147 for 9) that the Cults side struggled to chase down after loosing early key wickets by some sharp fielding from Mathew Hays and were bowled out for 68. The final was very much a one sided affair as the Mannofield side skittled out the Knightriders side for 37 led by the bowling from Mark Assiter (3 for 4) who was awarded the man-of-the-match honour as they comfortably reached their target with just 1 wicket down.
