MrPurple  Aug 17 2007 - 5:17pm
Yesterday's scheduled final of the Small Clubs Cup was rained off and has been re-scheduled for next Sunday August 19th.
This means that the earliest the Aberdeenshire Cup semi-final between Cults and Kintore can take place is now the 26th, which in turn means that the Final will have to be postponed to the following weekend (providing a venue can be found).

It also means that the Turriff Cup is further knocked back. The Management Committee, at its meeting 10 days ago, stated that the outstanding matches in Rounds 1 and 2 for which dates had not been re-arranged, must now take place on the first date available to both clubs.  Unless special and compelling grounds are advanced for a dispensation, it is assumed that the following games will take place on August 19th, :-
Methlick v Cults (Round 1) (already played - Cults won)
Mannofield v Bon Accord (Round 2)
Queens Cross are due to play in the Bon Accord cup final on the 19th, so the Turriff Cup 2nd round game Queens Cross v. St Ronald will take place on September 1st, and Ellon v. Cults on either 1st or 8th September.
The other two quarter finals – Ellon v Methlick or Cults, and Kintore v Academy obviously can not now take place till after the Aberdeenshire Cup semi-final has been resolved, with one of them happening the following weekend, and the other a weekend after that, depending on who is in the final. The current plan for the Turriff Cup semi-finals and final is to play them all on the same day, using two pitches at Duthie Park on either September 9th or (more likely) 16th, dependent on progress.

Another overcast day in this gloomy summer passed with no real surprises as Grade 1 sides Cults, Bon Accord and Kintore all recorded comfortable victories, while in the battle between the two relegation threatened sides Artisans recorded their second victory of the season to move ahead of Grammar FPs' one as the two sides met at the Duthie Park, and W Ali recorded the day's only century in Banchory's high-scording draw against Ellon.

The Bon Accord Cup Final between 2nd Cults and Queens Cross has been re-arranged to be played on Sunday 19th August at Burnett Park, Banchory.

Many Thanks to Banchory CC for hosting this venue

wytbu8  Aug 10 2007 - 12:15pm
Following a series of bilateral negotiations, I can now advise that the three games originally scheduled for the Duthie Park on Saturday August 18th, will now be played as follows:-

wytbu8  Aug 9 2007 - 5:36pm
Ellon Gordon 107 (A. Parkes 29, C. Woolridge-Gordon 18; M. Shariq 3-19, S. Shariq 2-11). Kismet 49 (A. Majuk 11; J. Barrett 3-5, H. Woolridge-Gordon 3-8).
wytbu8  Aug 5 2007 - 10:14pm

Victory for Bon Accord over Ellon in a low-scoring game at the Gordon Park, coupled with Stonehaven holding on for a draw against Kintore, enhance the chances of the current champions finishing as runners-up to Cults in this season’s Grade 1.  Meanwhile this season’s potential title-holders, although remaining undefeated, for once took less than maximum points at Inverurie, and there was a first win of the season for Grammar FPs away to Banchory, Jeremy Moir top-scoring with an undefeated 70.

wytbu8  Aug 5 2007 - 7:46pm
Aberdeen City Council has informed the ACA that Duthie Park will no longer be available for the schedule cricket matches on 18th August. The reason given is that a wedding is taking place at DP which has increased in the numbers attending and require the whole park!! Therefore, we urgently require venues for the Reid Cup Final, Johnston Cup Final and the Grade 2 game Caledonian v Methlick.

With the sun once more for the most part on their backs, some of the Grades leading batsmen once again returned to form at the weekend.
Nowhere did the runs flow more freely than at the traditionally quick-drying Links where Phil Potter of Banchory and Fazal Awan of Bon Accord both  recorded centuries in a match which saw over 500 runs scored for the loss of only seven wickets.  For the league leaders meanwhile Bryan Alexander notched up yet another half-century of his prolific career, as Cults beat Ellon by five wickets, while J van der Ruit finished unbeaten on 92 as Stonehaven comfortably beat Artisans.

Grades Select beat Aberdeenshire last night to qualify for the final of the Malik 20/20 Cup. Date for the final has still to be arranged - both Aberdeenshire and Stoneywood have still to play the University.

wytbu8  Jul 25 2007 - 8:40am

Heavy late afternoon rain resulted in a spate of rain-affected draws in the Grades at the weekend, including the day's top game at the Links where Bon Accord were forced to settle for a second league draw of the season against league leaders and potential Grade 1 champions, Cults.

MrPurple  Jul 22 2007 - 9:19pm
Kintore's victory over Bon Acord in a low-scoring encounter at Castle Park suggests that only a cataclysmic loss of form over the last few weeks of the season can prevent the Grade 1 title again returning to Cults.
MrPurple  Jul 15 2007 - 10:37pm
Due to a previously-accepted booking, the Aberdeenshire Cup game between Culter Curry Bon Accord and Cults Mo & Co on Sunday July 15th will now take place not at the Links but

Centuries from Grammar FPs' Jerry Moir and Steve Barron of Kemnay proved insufficient to see their sides through to victory, as both clubs were held to draws in Saturday's latest round of game
wytbu8  Jul 7 2007 - 10:55pm
It was a day of few real surprises in Grade 1 on Saturday as Cults, Bon Accord, Ellon, Stonehaven and Kintore all recorded easy wins over teams from the lower half of the table, Bon Accord's win at Rubislaw pushing the home side ever closer to relegation.
MrPurple  Jul 2 2007 - 12:36pm
The Grade Select once again came up against their annual nemesis as for a third successive year they were dismissed from the Three Counties cricket Cup in Tuesday night's second round game played at Huntly.
None of the Select's batsmen topped 25 as they were dismissed for 106, a score easily overhauled by the home side for the loss of only three wickets.
Huntly now play Dundee High FPs in this year's semi-final.

wytbu8  Jun 27 2007 - 9:34am
Cults' hopes of regaining the Grade 1 title were further strengthend at the weekend as they completed the double over Kintore, while Banchory added third-placed Stonehaven's scalps to their earlier defeats of Bon Accord and Kintore.  At the foot of the table meanwhile Artisans' and Grammar FPs' expectations of relegation increased as both suffered heavy defeats, and Inverurie's game versus Mannofield was brought to a premature end by heavy rain at the tea interval.
In Grade 2 St Ronald were held to a draw by Methlick, while 2nd Cults' hopes of joining their seniors in the top division were increased following their win over Queens Cross.  With Gordonians also defeating Kemnay, the result at Harlaw also pushed the home club back towards the relegation zone, while Academy's hopes of promotion received a knock against Crescent for whom S.

Despite a number of enforced changes, the Grade Select notched up another victory last night, comfortably beating a University eleven on the artificial strip at Peoples' Park in their latest game in this year's Malik Twenty20 Cup.

A hard-hitting half-century from Grant Jamieson coupled with a vital catch by the same player to dismiss Gareth Prosser saw Queens Cross through to victory against Kintore in the final of the Duncan Cup played at the Duthie Park last night.
Queens Cross had earlier disposed of a fancied Mannofield Seven, while Kintore edged past Ellon with four balls remaining in their semi-final.

The heavy rain means that all games yesterday bar one were void.
The exception was in Grade 4 where 2nd Dunecht had already scratched to 2nd Methlick earlier in the week, which therefore counts as a walkover to the Grade 4 leaders.
Kemnay’s re-arranged Sunday game v St Ronald is also off.
MrPurple  Jun 17 2007 - 9:38pm
In accordance with Rule 12(c) the Management Committee has approved the transfers of:
  • Richard Greenfield from Bon Accord to Ellon.
  • Ally Gill from Cults to Mannofield
wytbu8  Jun 14 2007 - 12:06pm

The Grades will play Stoneywood Dyce at People's Park at 6pm on Thursday 14th June. The Grades will play University on Tuesday 19th June at the same venue.

wytbu8  Jun 12 2007 - 6:51pm

An excellent return of seven wickets for 22 from Banchory spinner Tim Wilkinson, backed up by a half century from Wajaheed Ali saw Banchory do a favour to league leaders Cults by beating second-place Bon Accord at the Burnett Park on Saturday.  At the foot of the table meanwhile victories for Stonehaven and Mannofield see Artisans and Grammar FPs ever more firmly pinned in the two relegation spots.

Stonehaven Thistle are appropriately the first team through to the semi-finals of this year’s competition for the Press and Journal Trophy, following comfortable wins over Cults A and Queens Cross, in a Group reduced to three sides by the withdrawal from the competition of Dunecht.
