The last full weekend of Grades cricket brought few surprises as Cults beat Mannofield to complete an undefeated run in the league to regain the Grade 1 title, with Bon Accord, Kintore and Ellon also recording wins which confirmed the long-anticipated relegation of Grammar FPs and Artisans; though Grammar came close to recording a surprise victory over Kintore.  As well as another undefeated century for Bon Accord’s Fazal Awan at Stonehaven, there were centuries for Ellon’s Louis Borstlap and Inverurie’s captain Tim Norval in the day’s highest-scoring encounter at Gordon Park.

Contrary to this weeks grades report, the Reid Cup final at Inverurie on Saturday did in fact take place. The Cup was awarded to Crathie when 2nd Kintore unilaterally decided to abandon the match, despite the fact that the appointed umpires under Law 3 still regarded conditions as suitable for play to continue.
2nd Kintore 134 (Sattya 37, S. Davidson 34; M. Bestwick 4-39, J. Thomas 2-29). Crathie 60-0 (13 overs) (A. Walls 31no,  D.H.Smith 25 n.o.)

There is and entertaining and informative discussion going on at the moment in the forum regarding the rules covering player eligibility in the grades, so I've added a poll to the site to see - just for interest and to encourage further discussion - what the general feeling is on whether the rules need to be reconsidered. You can read the topic here, and vote in the poll here.

Heavy rain meant that virtually the entire Grades cricket programme was washed out at the weekend, only the re-arranged Grade 3 game at Turriff being completed.

As a result it is now likely the Bon Accord, Ried and Johnston Cup finals will now be re-scheduled for next Saturday and Sunday.
