With the Grades having played no representative fixture this season, and the SPCU keen to raise the profile of the game through inter-association matches, a match between the respective Selects has been arranged to be played at Lochlands Park, Forfar, this Saturday, with a 1pm start.

wytbu8  Sep 4 2015 - 6:40pm

NB All Forms must be returned no later than 27th September 2015 and an acknowledgement note received to confirm this as the Management Committee will not be held responsible for forms lost in the post or missing emails.
With the league matches now completed, it is now time for club secretaries to submit club player averages for the Annual Dinner/Prize giving event and for inclusion into the 2016 Grades Handbook. Forms can be downloaded from this web site under the “Downloads” section found to the left hand side margin or by clicking here.  Despite several reminders Mannofield and Lahore Karahi club secretaries/captains failed to provide their respective player averages.

Further to the previous posting, a determination in the case of the Protest relating to the Ellon v Mannofield Grade 1 game played on Saturday July 18th having been reached and communicated to the parties, is now formally promulgated, the expiry date for any appeal on legal grounds having expired:

“Protest – Ellon Gordon v ACE Mannofield (G1 match played 18 July 2015) – alleged breach of Rules 11 and/or 13 (d)

wytbu8  Sep 2 2015 - 12:25pm

In ironically the best weather of the summer champions Bon Accord confirmed their retention of the Grade 1 title, beating Mannofield at the County Ground with a century from Nawaz Mirza, while both Kemnay-Kintore and Portcullis were confirmed as winners of their respective grades as Turriff scratched their final fixture; and a number of games were agreed as to be left un-played, as a weather-disrupted league season came to an end.

wytbu8  Aug 30 2015 - 10:09pm
Please note that the Fixture for the Turriff Cup has now been confirmed with Peoples Park (Stoneywood-Dyce cc) as its venue, the 2014 Cup final, semi-finals and the final for the 2015 shall take place on the scheduled date and times.
wytbu8  Aug 26 2015 - 1:12am

Dear Stuart and Team MCC.

On behalf of Aberdeenshire Cricket Association, my heartiest thanks to Methlick Cricket Club for organising a successful Aberdeenshire Cup finals at Lairds on 23rd August, 2015.

wytbu8  Aug 24 2015 - 10:34am

Grade 1 leaders and prospective 2015 champions Bon Accord’s hopes of completing the season with an unblemished record was brought to a halt in the last regular round of games for the season as an unbroken eighth-wicket partnership for AGSFPs from Rutwik Hegde and Vijay Vijapur saw them to a two-wicket victory in a low-scoring game at the Links. However with Cults-Artisans also going down to defeat against Crescent the destination of the title will remain unaffected, on a Saturday which also saw bottom-side Banchory record some late-season cheer against a weakened Ellon team, and Mannofield ran out expected winners against also-relegated Fraserburgh.

wytbu8  Aug 23 2015 - 8:52pm

The ACA Competitions Sub-Committee has a remit to consider and reach an initial determination on any alleged breach of the Rules of Association Competition (including Rules for player registration) which may either be referred to it by the President, Vic-President or Secretary of the Association, or of which notice has been submitted by any member club within the provisions of Association Rule 15 (Protests).

With the majority of the league issues now decided, attention in the Grades this weekend will focus on the showpiece of the Aberdeenshire Cup Final to be played on Sunday.

With Mannofield unavailable, this year’s final will take place at Methlick’s home ground of Lairds with current holders Ellon, who swept aside Bon Accord in last year’s final, seeking to retain the trophy against Cults-Artisans, who on this season’s league form will probably start favourites.

wytbu8  Aug 20 2015 - 10:14am

Persistent rain over the previous 48 hours, coupled with void games earlier in the season, means that Grade 1 is now likely to continue into overtime, with three of the scheduled five fixtures from Saturday’s programme now requiring to be re-scheduled for the first available date taking account of clubs’ outstanding cup commitments.

wytbu8  Aug 16 2015 - 10:25pm

wytbu8  Aug 11 2015 - 11:00am

There were few surprises in the latest round of league games in the Aberdeenshire Grades, as Bon Accord remained on course to complete the season with a hundred per cent record, while at the other end of the table Banchory’s defeat to Fraserburgh effectively confirms the Deeside club’s relegation with two rounds of games yet to complete.

Brief interruptions for rain were not enough to prevent decisive victories in the finals of the Reid & Johnston Cups played at the weekend.

In the Grade 3 competition Kemnay-Kintore swept aside a youthful 2nd Gordonians team, declaring after 35 overs and then dismissing their opponents for just 35 to complete the first leg of a projected league-cup double; while Grampian capped their first season in the Grades dismissing Turriff for 83 after a steady start which had seen them reach 50 with just one wicket down as Immanuel Doss top-scored with 30 off 39 balls.  An unbroken third-wicket stand between Rohin Joseph and man-of the-match Bijil Jacob, who had earlier taken two for 7 from 6 overs, however saw Grampian to a comfortable win with nearly half of their allotted overs remaining.

wytbu8  Jul 29 2015 - 11:04pm

Rule 13 of the Association, under which players with specified exceptions may be registered and play for only one club in a season, provides in sub-section (b) that players registered from clubs which withdraw from competition during the season, may re-register for another club.  There is however no comparable provision to deal with players who may be left without a game following the withdrawal of a second or third team, particularly if this happens after closure of the transfer window - of which there have been 3 instances this season.  Members of the Management Committee feel that, while Rules cannot currently be changed formally, this is a situation where an informal agreement would be appropriate, and should be sought, to ensure that individuals in this position are not deprived of the possibility to play.

wytbu8  Jul 29 2015 - 2:27pm

Saturday will see the Finals of the G3 Reed Cup and G4 Johnston Rose Bowl, the venues are Gordon Park (Ellon cc Ground) and the Lairds (Methlick cc Ground) respectively.
