A group photo from the Junior Competition held at Banchory ![]() The players from Aberdeenshire, Banchory and Stoneywood-Dyce in a group photo at the Banchory CC junior 6-a-sides. Format was 6-a-side, 10 overs per innings, bowlers restricted to three overs max. The teams initially played in a round-robin with Aberdeenshire defeating SD in game one, Banchory beating Aberdeenshire in game two, SD winning against Banchory in game three leading to Callum Wilson's accounting skills sorting out countback to arrive at a play-off match in which SD again triumphed over Banchory. Great fun and a huge well done to the Banchory club for the invitation, the use of their facilities, their BBQ skills and any monies they earned from their wee raffle were well deserved. Let's look to run more of these three-cornered Sunday events in season 2012. A G BARRON Administrator Aberdeen City/Shire Cricket Development Group (M) 07768 361 641

"The finals day of the Asda National Primary Schools Cup was played out in beautiful sunshine at the immaculate Doo’cot Park in Perth, with James Gillespie’s Primary School from Edinburgh earning full marks and taking home the silverware. Sixteen teams from primary schools throughout Scotland converged for this final festival of the season, each having come through their own qualifying competition before testing themselves against the best of the rest of the country. Today’s final was the culmination of 33 festivals, involving over five hundred primary schools and almost 5,000 youngsters – both boys and girls. Special guest, Minister for Commonwealth Games and Sport, Shona Robison MSP bowled the opening delivery to get the games underway. The standard of cricket in each of the four groups was excellent with all teams demonstrating fair play and respecting the spirit of the game. read more 371 reads
